Job Description

The purpose of this job is to provide end to end solutions for clients by way of designing new products, market existing products to ensure increased trading, develop, maintain and grow the interest rates, bonds, derivatives and currencies market in achievement of JSE financial objectives . Experience Required:

• Bcom in Finance / Economics / Business
• 8  10 years having worked in Financial Markets and have a thorough knowledge of Interests Rate/Fixed Income/Bonds markets and products
• 3 5 years’ experience in managing staff

Responsibilities:

• Manage own and team member delivery against set delivery plans and targets by setting timelines, identifying obstacles to delivery and taking appropriate action where required to achieve results
• Manage team to identify what products are listed and conduct research for new product models to ascertain viability of new product in market under guidance from Manager on ideas for new product to generate revenue on longterm to meet and achieve business growth and sustainability of client relationships
• Design product and engage with market to gain acceptance of new product by continuously hosting bilateral conversations with all stakeholders, before finalising product for market release
• Engage with policy stakeholders and buyside (asset managers) and sell side (banks) to ensure market is ready to accept product and facilitate trading of product
• Design various product solutions for clients by understanding their needs, conducting research to determine viability of solution in market, confirming product meets client’s needs taking cognisance of various procedures and approval processes
• Engage with members of JSE finance departments, IT and risk to determine viability of product, constraints and capacity of JSE systems to support and deliver on product to ensure market adaptability capabilities and supportability via the JSE systems and processes
• Gain approval from all relevant stakeholders i.e. Reserve Bank, policy decision makers, software vendors, JSE Risk committee and Members before taking new product to market
• Establish project plans based on prioritised tasks, available resources, work schedules, and project milestones by building effective relationships and engaging all stakeholders and members of the project team to ensure a flawless execution of new/existing product launch
• Ensure all documents prior to attending “client” meetings by assuring all documents and approvals have been granted, and presentations are prepared by understanding the different nuances of each “client” by conducting a needs analysis for each client and preparing accordingly
• Persuade various partners (banks/members/stock brokers) to assist in marketing the relevant product to ensure a quick market uptake in order to reach intended end users to trade new or enhanced product
• Ensure all derivative transactions conform to the terms laid down by various regulatory bodies and the JSE policies Resolve all queries with regards to frontend support by logging a call for Members/clients if network connectivity needs to be established to ensure smooth running of trading portals
• Manage all frontend trading support i.e. assistance with allocations, bulk trading, subaccount modifications to support clients and members
• Obtain an understanding of other exchange products or competing OTC products to ensure competitiveness advantage for JSE products
• Manage the execution of the test and production golive to ensure products are “market ready” at time of launch as well as future software deployment updates
• Engage JSE operational team to implement and cross train them to understand how and why new product will be implemented by being transparent in all negotiations and requirements to create buyin and understanding of needs
• Ensure products are competitive on a global scale with other exchanges by understanding operations and offerings of international exchange and conducting relevant research and analysis of current trading activities and offerings
• Engage with Bloomberg and Reuters to get new product specifications listed on their pages (data vendors) to gain visibility and create awareness of product to enhance and enable quick trading to take place
• Ensure outputs meet business needs and compliance expectations by engaging teams within JSE and SARB by setting up meetings to advise them of products, impact it would play in the market, the South African economy to ensure acceptance of the way forward for the market
• Write the relevant BRS (Business Requirement specifications i.e. white paper) on concept ideas, outlining trading methods and unpacking all relevant applicable regulations
• Calculate a closing price for products by finding a source for a price that would be trusted by the market place and engage with the operational team to implement the product and run the closing price, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of the process and implementation procedures required .
• Provide strategic input into departmental/divisional revenue and costs budget to ensure appropriate resource allocation in achievement of departmental goals by also ensuring team is researching, analysing trends and macroeconomic factors, revenue drivers and benchmark against other exchanges and how it impacts the market.
