    Head of Marketing: M-Net Movies

    Job description

    The M-Net Channels Division seeks to appoint a suitably qualified & dedicated Employment Equity individual to assume the role of Head of Marketing: Movies, on a permanent basis. This position reports to the Director: M-Net Channels and is based at our offices in Randburg.

    CONTEXT

    The successful candidate will be required to develop and implement the annual M-Net Movie channels brand strategies, marketing and communications plans (SA and RoA). The person will manage the outputs of the marketing team in order to achieve the company’s objectives.

    OUTPUTS

    Products, services, programs and information, which the individual must provide to external individuals or groups, or one another to accomplish the organisation’s mission and strategy (SA and RoA):

    • Strategy:
      • Accountable for developing and implementing the annual M-Net Movies Channels brand strategies, marketing and communications plans.
      • Develop the marketing and communications strategy (ATL and BTL) for new and existing local and internarional content on the M-Net Movies Channels.
      • Strategically allign the marketing and communications strategy with the DSTV Catch-Up and SVOD services.
      • Work closely with the M-Net Research and Business Intelligence division to regularly analyse and respond to the competitive environment, target market content trends, consumer viewing and consumption trends. Regularly onduct strategic market analysis and market/field research.
      • Adapt the marketing and communication plans to ensure the most effective, cost-efficient and successful implementation (increase viewership).
      • Operations:
      • Manage all operational aspects specific to the implementation of the M-Net Movies Channels brand, marketing and communication plans (ATL and BTL campaigns, events, activations etc.)
      • Create and implement appropriate structures, systems, SOP’s and workflows in order to meet and exceed the goals of the marketing and communication plans.
      • Successfully manage all marketing and communications related contracts / outsourced functions (agencies, production companies etc.).
      • Guide daily operational elements and ensure that the strategies are implemented by the marketing, promo and filler teams.
      • Regularly review divisional outputs to ensure continued success of the division (increase viewership).
      • Work closely with and assist the DSTV Media Sales team in obtaining the company’s commercial objectives – provide them with the correct tools, materials and presentations.
      • Develop M-Net Movies promo and sponsorship strategy
      • Work closely with and support the MultiChoice marketing team (cross business integration).
      • Work closely with the content and scheduling teams to identify international content, obtain marketing materials from studios/production houses, and create and implement effective and cost efficient marketing and communication plans.
      • Work closely with and successfully support the Publicity team.
      • Continuously monitor and report on the success of the marketing and communication plans (ATL, BTL, monitor progress, compliance and report on performance).
      • Content, marketing and communication plan presentations to various stakeholders as and when required.
      • Successfully support the online and social media strategy and ensure set target are met
      • Keep informed of developments within the field of marketing.
      • Any additional developments as required by the business.
    • Finance:
      • Manage the marketing budget (forecasting, phasing).
      • Prepare and present the annual marketing and communications budget.
      • Return on investment analysis for all marketing and communications activities (measure and report).
      • Administer procurement through SAP.
    • HR:
      • Create and maintain a culture that attracts, retains and motivates employees.
      • Ensure successful and effective management within the marketing team.
      • oProactively establish and manage effective working team relationships with all support departments
      • Develop and train the marketing team where required.

    KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS

    • Relevant post-graduate degree
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the field of marketing and brand management
    • Exceptional understanding of the Pay-TV / multi-channel environment
    • Solid understanding of Promo and Sponsorship Management
    • Management experience
    • A passion for marketing excellence
    • Passionate about Movies and high level of Movies knowledge
    • Exceptional consumer understanding
