    Senior Accountant

    Job description

    Sandton, R25k - R30k

    Summary

    Our finance department are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities of our business. As the leader of this team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You have exceptional general finance skills and would proactively take responsibility for routine reporting, calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for the use in the maintaining of accounting records - and all this sounds like fun to you.

    The job

    We need someone to join the team who is motivated and enthusiastic about diligently managing the Finance Function, understanding how this role supports and enables exceptional guest experiences - our core business driver.

    In this role you would be very customer focused. You'll review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports and your attention to detail alongside your strong finance and accounting experience will ensure that our business becomes a thought leader in financial best practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and Lead finance team
    • Prepare accounts and deliver month-end processes/procedures including Monthly Management Accounts for each location and HQ
    • Submit Statutory Returns and ensure compliance (EE/SARS/SDA/COID/DoL/CiPC/etc)
    • Oversee outsourced payroll administration
    • Design Policies/Procedures in line with best practice and ensure its implementation and continued compliance
    • Conduct annual budget process per location including consolidation into HQ
    • Prepare Cash Flow Forecasts and maintain a cash fluid position at all times
    • Understand and implement any requirements across any Legal Agreements entered into (incl. Management and Lease)
    • Understand Shareholders Agreement Provide Shareholder reports as requested/required
    • Design appropriate measure for Developments entered into and develop strategy across timing of VAT, Cash Flow and business plan
    • Maintain Assets register and provide method for tracking assets and ensure its continued workability (quarterly inventory check)
    • Update financial aspect of business plan and provide reports on any deviations
    • Prepare Annual Financial Statements per location and HQ
    • Prepare annual audit file and work with External Auditors to ensure a clean audit is delivered
    • Work with Directors on ensuring that Financial KPI’s are appropriate for staff and assist on evaluation of those KPI’s
    • Adhoc finance and project duties as required and assigned

    Qualifications/Experience

    Minimum qualifications/experience:

    • Accounting Degree or equivalent practical experience.
    • Knowledge of industry accounting practices, principles and systems.
    • Fully computer literate (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) Analytical competence: Ability to analyse and interpret information accurately.
    • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.
    • Excellent analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with management.
    • Accountable: Professional approach to quality, time, costs and deadlines.
    • Ambitious: Committed to constantly learning and adding value.
    • Proactive: An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment.
    • Adaptable: Responsive to changing business needs and critical last minute deadlines.

    Preferred qualifications/experience:

    • Hospitality experience is advantageous.
    • Experience working on Xero would be advantageous.
    • Experience managing financial systems and financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice.
    • Ability to clearly communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders within and outside the organisation
    • Ability to handle multiple requests, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to be responsive to customer requests/service issues.
    • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a rapidly changing environment and to oversee projects or implementation of national initiatives through to completion.
    • Understanding and knowledge of industry trends and direction.
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to remain calm while managing crisis issues and communications.
