    Assistant Commercial Finance Manager Operations

    Job description

    An opportunity has arisen within this FTSE 100 international blue chip company for an individual to provide finance guidance to support analysis and reduce cost that does not add value to the consumer experience in the South African product portfolio.

    This is high profile with a commercial focus and involves managing multiple stakeholders across all areas of South African Operations. The ideal candidate would have experience within a complex FMCG or manufacturing finance environment, would be comfortable to prioritise and work to strict deadlines. They must be analytical and inquisitive and capable of managing large volumes of information. Solid finance skills are expected, and previous business partner and modelling skills would be most advantageous.

    The role is responsible for the compilation and analysis of Supply Chain Finance key business measures. It would further support on product cost and primary delivered product cost, initiatives within the operations environment.

    Key accountabilities

    • Liaise with Direct Procurement, Ops Master data, Quality department, Regional Product champions, Marketing, Leaf & Wrapping material(WMS) Planning and Supply Chain Logistics to determine the costs for wrapping materials, leaf and other supply chain costs for the Company plan, Quarterly Profit Revisions [QPRs], New Product Introductions (NPI) costing and ad hoc costing requests. Transfer pricing: assist with determining transfer prices for export BAT South Africa’s export markets. Resolving any issues/queries on transfer pricing.
    • SAP standard costing owner. Perform standard costing. Resolving any issues/queries on standard pricing.
    • Extract from SAP, analyse and prepare foreign and local currency cash flow statements for tobacco and wrapping material purchases, to be used for Treasury Committee hedging meetings.
    • Extract from SAP, monitoring, analyse and report on the exceptional costs, inventory values (leaf, wrapping, finished goods, semi-finished goods) and durations for input into monthly standard reports, dashboards and forums.
    • Stock governance, including but not limited to: Review, analyse and advise on stock procedure issues, Monthly review stock reports for the consolidation and reconciling of the physical stock counted at month end vs the SAP stock on hand balances.
    • Timely journal posting of stock in transit, 3PL and Security provisions, Blocked stock, old and ageing and obsolescence provision
    • Serve as the Business partner to Supply Chain department

    Requirement

    • An undergraduate degree with Accounting would be required (i.e. M+3).
    • A minimum of 4 years relevant financial experience.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage relationships across all levels within the company and externally.
    • Able to analyse and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
    • A commercial approach to activities.
    • An effective promoter of new initiatives.
    • A high level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines
    • Excellent excel skills
    • High level of drive and commitment
    • Qualified accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA)
    • 2 years plus experience in an Operations/Manufacturing Finance environment.
    • Detailed working experience of the FI, MM modules in SAP
