Bosch Projects, a level 2 BBBEE certified company and a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings established in 1961, has an opportunity for a Lead Roads Engineer. This position will be based in the Cape Town Office and reporting directly to the Regional Director.

Duties will initially be that of a Resident Engineer on a contract in the Paarl area, becoming office based thereafter.

Key responsibilities will include (project dependent):

• Performing the role of Resident Engineer and managing site team and providing assistance to the Contract Engineer
• Managing entire projects and project teams from inception to completion, including client interface
• Performing engineering functions efficiently in support of the project planning and / or design team
• Performing contract administration role on major roads projects
• Mentoring and motivating project teams
• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
• Assisting with development and implementation of structured marketing plans
• Ensure compliance with Bosch Projects ISO 9001/2008 QMS System
• Ensure that Quality Standards are achieved and maintained

The ideal Candidate should:

• Have a BSc Civil Engineering / BEng Civil Engineering.
• Be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
• Have a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience of which a minimum of 5 years must have been spent on large roads projects.
• Have technical and design competence in either road rehabilitation, surfacing design or geometrics.
• Have experience in administering major roads contracts as the Contract Engineer, and management of construction monitoring teams.
• Have experience in construction monitoring of major roads contracts as the Resident Engineer, and management of site teams and site laboratories.
• Be able to assume design leadership role in new road, road rehabilitation and/or road maintenance projects, and lead engineer role for roads in land development projects.
• Be capable of functioning independently and as part of a project team.
• Have ability to grow client relationships and acquire roads related workload.
• Have a valid passport and be prepared to travel and work within and outside RSA borders.
