    Human Resources Assistant

    Job description

    OBJECTIVESOF THE PROGRAMME

    The objectives of the HumanResources Management Unit are to carry out in an efficient and timely manner,for the WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFR) and offices and sub/offices in 47countries in the African region, all activities related to both strategic andoperational workforce planning, staff/management relations, the development,implementation and assessment of integrated talent management strategies andpractices that support the achievements of short, medium and long-termobjectives as set out in the MTSP and operational work plans.

    PURPOSEOF THE POSITION

    • To support the implementation of staffdevelopment and learning (SDL) activities within the African Region and toprovide advice, guidance and support to managers and staff for PerformanceManagement and Development (PMD) activities.
    • Descriptionof Duties
    • Liaises with SubjectMatter Experts to coordinate the delivery of expert training sessions
    • Supports the deliveryof the AFRO Induction Program
    • Supports the LearningFocal Point Network through regular communications and responding to adhocrequests
    • Provides logisticalsupport to the planning and delivery of training through the:
    • Administrationof learning activities in ilearn
    • Creationof WebEx sessions
    • Roombooking
    • Managementof attendance in ilearn
    • Reporting– attendance and evaluation
    • Createsthe monthly HTML SDL newsletter
    • Managesthe SDL SharePoint Site
    • Providesadhoc ilearn support to staff
    • Providesadministrative support for the UN Language Proficiency Exam
    • ValidatesStudy Leave requests for processing
    • Initiatememos in DocuShare
    • Actsas back up for HR Officer: Staff Development and Learning as required
    • Actsas PMDS support back up
    • Performother duties as required.

    Requiredqualifications

    Education

    Essential: Completion ofsecondary school.

    Desirable: Specificeducation in Human Resources and / or Learning and Development

    Experience

    • Essential: Eight (8) years ofexperience in Human Resources in a learning and development role with knowledgeof general administrative and HR Policy theory and procedures.
    • Desirable: Experience designingand delivering training and briefing sessions. Experience administeringLearning Management Systems

    Skills

    Work requires maintaining up to date knowledge on any changes to Staff Regulations and Rules as well as standard operating procedures. The incumbent is also expected to maintain computer skills including skills expertise in the Global Management System, to the standard of the Organization by self-study or in-house training. Knowledge of WHO rules, regulations, policies and practices would be an asset.
