    Associate Consultant

    Job description

    Main Purpose

    Alexander Forbes is looking for an Associate Consultant who will be placed in the Institutional Consulting department. Their main duties are to assist the consultant in managing funds , sit in on Trustee meetings and assist with Administration

    Minimum requirements:

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • BCOM graduate (Economics/Econometrics, Isurance etc)
    • BSc Actuarial Science
    • CFP Advantageous
    • Must be FAIS accredited

    Knowledge and experience

    6-12 months employee benefits consulting experience advantageous

    Tasks:

    Assist the consultant in managing funds:

    • Deal with external queries telephonically, by written correspondence or visits as required or approved by the consultant
    • Taking queries from members
    • Liaising with management committee representatives and other internal departments
    • Provide ongoing feedback to the consultant on all aspects relating to day to day activities.
    • Communication to members: draft communication, distribute information booklets, liaising with couriers of companies

    Trustee meetings:

    • Ensuring agenda are drafted, and all annexures are given to the consultant for approval 3 weeks prior to the meeting
    • Matters arising to be actioned within one month after meeting.
    • Attend management committee and sub-committee meetings, take minutes, ensure minutes are typed and given to consultant 1 week after meeting, and circulate minutes within 2 weeks of meeting.
    • Ensure that agendas for meetings are collated, bound and distributed correctly 1 week before the meeting

    Administration:

    • Distribution of information to management committees, insurance companies ad asset managers
    • Processing payment of invoices
    • Processing section 14's: collating information, obtaining approval from financial services board, transferring members between funds
    • Ad hoc typing
    • Requesting, checking and distributing rule amendments
    • Obtaining signatures from clients when necessary
    • Issuing standard documents, such as quarterlies, surveys etc, timeously to clients
