    Supply Chain Buyer

    Job description

    The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for procurement of Facilities, Materials and Services Purchasing for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) -(Pretoria and Struandale Engine Plant).

    Position Details:

    • Management of Global Ocean Container, Ocean RoRo and Air Freight contracts for FMCSA.
    • Management and maintenance of warehouse and global Consolidator contracts for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa
    • Management of the Milkrun (Road haul, full truck load and less than truck load) for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa & Sub Sahara and Africa
    • Contract management including; rail (ports and rail services), customs clearing, line side supply, production packaging and short term to long term material handling equipment contracts.
    • Drafting and maintaining Service Level Agreements with service providers, including continuous monitoring of key performance indexes
    • Support multiple capacity studies to support business growth plan
    • Ensure flawless launches including supplier capacity installations in line with build plan
    • Processing of purchase orders for goods and services on the Ford enterprise resource planning system
    • TVM (Total value management) to drive competitive sourcing.
    • Support BBBEE sourcing targets
    • Supplier Risk mitigation / management
    • Oversee the container yard

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Purchasing Systems, Policies & Procedures
    • Problem solving/Analytical Skills
    • Cost Management
    • Systems Knowledge
    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to effectively discharge job duties.
    • Good understanding of commodity fundamentals which influence product cost, quality, performance and capacity
    • Well-developed collaboration / negotiation skills
    • Good presentation and computer skills
    • Well-developed business acumen and financial management knowledge to ensure that the right sourcing decisions are made
    • Ability to manage change and conflict

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing/ Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
    • Minimum 3-5 Years Purchasing Experience or knowledge of Engineering/ MP&L/ Finance
