Leading JSE listed financial services firm is looking for a Senior Audit Manager (Acturial, Finance & Investments) to join their team. This role is based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Note: Only open to South African citizens

Overall responsibility for the Actuarial, Finance and Investments (AFI) audits for the Group. This includes:

• High-level risk identification (including emerging risks) across the broader investment, actuarial and finance environments of the group and individual clients.
• Deciding an appropriate audit methodology to appropriately address the assurance requirements around actual, finance and investments.
• Consider the need and lead audits across business boundaries such as investments, finance, life businesses and actuarial.
• Set team objectives for the wider AFI team.
• Co-manage with the Audit Managers of Actuarial and Investments the audit planning process.
• Co-manage the audit reporting process and facilitate the resolution of areas of high risk in the business.
• Overall responsible for quality of audit execution across the AFI teams.
• Relationship building with senior management of the business clusters, finance and actuarial to ensure the audit objectives are aligned with key business outcomes.
• Establish audit assurance in key areas of technical expertise not currently part of the assurance activity of the team (e.g. certain aspects of financial reporting, tax, etc.).
• Co-manage the development of AFI staff and oversee the staffing processes in the AFI teams.
• Oversee the annual client budgeting process and negotiate audit fee budgets with senior management.
• Create AFI assurance lines in other subsidiaries not currently serviced by the team.
• Execute certain technical audits in the AFI environment.
• Act as a technical specialist consultant in providing advice and assurance on significant projects in the capital management, solvency, risk management and finance areas in the Group.
• Assist with the development of new regulatory frameworks and where appropriate, represent company on Regulatory and Industry bodies.

Qualifications and experience:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant – CA(SA) with additional qualifications in financial modelling and detailed understanding of actuarial matters; or Qualified Actuary with additional background in auditing and accounting
• 15 Years + experience in financial services.
• Practical knowledge of Actuarial valuation processes and controls.
• Practical experience in financial modelling.
• Practical experience of investment valuation processes and controls and the interaction between investments and life actuarial functions.
• Practical understanding of complex investment structures.
• Practical experience of internal auditing and risk management.
• Operate and interact with Executive Management levels and the ability to influence these decision makers.
• Deliver technical presentations internally at and at public forums.
• Bringing together Senior and Executive Management role players within the company to form opinions around technical industry and regulatory issues.
• Operationalise technical issues (such as Solvency II, SAM, control hot topics, etc.) and help the Actuarial, Finance and Investment departments to design processes and controls to address these issues. This is both a facilitations role and a role as technical expert.

• Management and motivation of a small team of highly skilled professionals
