    Corporate - Human Resources - Head of HR

    Job description

    As the Head of Human Resources for South Africa (SA) located in Johannesburg, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end management of and oversight for HR services across all lines of businesses. You will be part of the SSA Regional Management Forum and the SA Local Management Committee.

    As the Head of HR you will partner closely with the local business heads, Senior Country Officers (SCO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Control Functions including Risk, Legal, Compliance, Global Security and Investigations departments and other appropriate regional JPM officials to advise and establish the HR priorities and solutions needed to meet the business priorities. You will manage relationships with regulators and external vendors and partner with HR colleagues across lines of businesses and functional groups including HR Services Delivery, Recruiting, Talent Management, Compensation, International Benefits, HR Oversight and Control, Regulatory, Employee Relations, Expatriate, among other areas, to promote a scalable and sustainable operating and control environment for HR in South Africa as well as enhance employees’ experience.
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Provide oversight for all HR services in South Africa and Nigeria end-to end and across all Lines of Businesses (LOBs) and Corporate Functions. (HR services may include payroll, timekeeping, data management, onboarding and offboarding employees and domestic/international relocation)
    • Develop and drive the end-to-end HR strategy for Johannesburg across all HR disciplines based on business priorities and the global/regional people agenda, including develop and retain top talent
    • Lead team of 3 people
    • Leverage the scale of the firm, develop and deliver the site-based agenda for: wellness, diversity, employee activities, talent, health & safety
    • Responsible for HR accounts integrity. Supervise money movements and team governance around payments
    • Manage direct reports and partner with HR colleagues of all levels to drive efficiencies and leverage best practices across LOBs
    • Partner with subject matter experts to review critical HR processes and support overall issue escalation and resolution
    • Lead HR crisis management and high-impact business resiliency efforts
    • Provide escalation point for HR and ER related matters across LOBs
    • Consult on a broad range of people-related topics, including employee relations, leadership development, succession planning, recruitment, compensation and benefits, organizational design, diversity and employee advocacy
    • Own the delivery of  site-based people metrics to drive business insight and action
    • Represent HR in local management committee meetings and other local committees
    • Act as the trusted advisor to the business and its management and employees
    • Represent South Africa in senior HR forums as well as business meetings in the region and globally
    • Foster a robust Risk & Control environment within HR disciplines partnering with regional and global functions as appropriate. Assume full accountability of all HR Regulatory matters in South Africa
    • Stay current on regulatory developments and consistently and proactively manage implications of regulatory requirements on people-related transactions with local scope. Engage with internal and external key stakeholders, including internal and external legal counsel, compliance corporate tax, finance and regulators on Regulatory matters
    • Participate in the Local Transformation Committee to move the regulatory diversity agenda forward in relation to the Financial Services Charter and take specific ownership of the management control and skills development pillars of the scorecard
    • Partner and manage relationships with external law firms to support any labor regulator request
    • Manage reputational risk in the location with regards to HR related actions: Help business take the right people decisions in order to avoid further legal and reputational impact and manage implications of regulatory requirements on people-related transactions
    • Represent JPM in competitors' forums, demonstrate extensive knowledge of competitor's practices, keep abreast of market trends and develops relationship with peers at competitors' organizations

    • HR Experience in a multinational matrixed environment is strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of multiple HR disciplines (recruitment, ER, comp & benefits, payroll, etc)   
    • Thorough understanding of control environment and mastering of control processes
    • Strong knowledge of local market and local employment law preferred
    • Knowledge of accounting and tax concepts, to be able to comply with local compensation and benefits policies & procedures
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams across businesses and in a multinational matrixed environment
    • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working partnerships with clients and HR colleagues; ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff and management   
    • Excellent communication, cultural awareness and interpersonal skills
    • Negotiation skills & conflict management skills - ability to mediate, negotiate and facilitate differences amongst diverse stakeholders
    • Strategic thinker and ability to connect the dots and anticipate issues
