    Senior Network & Security Engineer

    Job description

    We are currently looking for a Senior Network and Security Engineer to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.

    Job Description

    As a Senior Network and Security Engineer at Dimension Data, your key functions will be to prepare, plan, design, implement, operate and optimise network and network security services as required by the business. These services are required on a global scale utilising best practice considerations. You must be committed to excellence, pro-active and responsive to the needs of the business.

    What we expect you to do

    • Learn: Physical topology and logical design of the supported client networks and security implementations. This is primarily Cisco technology focused, but experience with Cisco, Jupiter, Checkpoint, Ironport, FireEye, Bluecoat, etc would be beneficial
    • Communication: Handle client, vendor and carrier calls in a timely, professional manner.Provide status and communications updates to clients via tickets on the progress of incidents, within the prescribed SLA times. Communicate effectively and clearly so that non-technical people can understand, including explaining complex technical solutions in a clear and concise manner.
    • Monitor: Make use of various monitoring and surveillance toolsets responsible for reporting health of the environment, and engage both reactively and proactively to alerts.
    • Troubleshooting: Examine potential security threats and work with other members of the team / organisation to analyse these. Apply standard troubleshooting practices to analyse both physical and logical issues in the client and carrier networks. Investigate assigned third line support calls and identify the root cause of incidents and problems, and ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents, events, problems and requests
    • Interact: Directly with other Dimension Data team members, vendor, carrier and client personnel as the role requires.
    • Service: Provide a service to clients globally to ensure that their IT network security infrastructure and systems remain operational through proactively identifying, investigating and resolving technical incidents and problems and to restore service to clients by managing incidents to resolution.
    • Collaborate: Across different global teams, stakeholders and clients when preparing, planning and designing a service based on network and security solutions.
    • Participate: In project planning for designing, deploying and operating a new service.

    Skills and knowledge

    • Strong knowledge and experience of complex networks and troubleshooting methods
    • Solid understanding of vulnerabilities, threats, risks, compliance and other aspects of security governance
    • Display a strong client service orientation
    • Demonstrate specialist network infrastructure knowledge
    • Excellent interpersonal, co-ordination and problem solving skills

    Qualifications

    Here's what we are looking for in candidates for this job

    • 8 – 10 years’ relevant work experience
    • At least 8 years’ network security experience working with enterprise clients within a large scale (preferably multinational) technology services environment
    • A CCNP Networking and CCNP Security is required
    • Proven design, deployment and configuration experience with Cisco’s FirePOWER Threat Defense (FTD) functionality, FirePOWER Management Centre, FirePOWER services and FTD appliances and FirePOWER services and FTD ASAs.
    • Experience with SD-WAN technologies is required, i.e. experience with Cisco’s iWAN, using Prime, APIC-EM and Live Action.
    • Design, deployment and configuration experience with Cisco iWAN Domains and DMVPNs across an international geography, deploying and configuring PfRv3 and zero-touch provisioning.
    • Previous experience in the operational management and monitoring of multiple customer security environments.
    • Proven experience and expertise within all areas of network security technologies, vendor products and security governance
    • Experience in Cisco (Firewall, IPS, IPSEC VPN, SSL VPN), Palo Alto (UTM), Check Point, Bluecoat (Proxy / Reverse Proxy)
    • Experience with Juniper (Netscreen / SRX) Iron Port (Web, Email Proxy), McAfee IPS / Epo & F5 (LTM, ASM,APM) beneficial.
