    Training Manager

    Job description

    DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

    REPORTING TO: HR Director

    Additional Info

    • Travelling long distances/Out of Office work time will be required from time to time
    • Site visits to various areas of the business
    • Valid Driver’s License & own Vehicle
    • Need to reside within Johannesburg area

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    The Primary Purposes Of The Position Are As Follows

    • To devise and implement training plans and processes in order to support skills growth and contribute to the improvement of employee retention within the business.
    • Accountable for all forms of legislative reporting related to skills in the business (WSP/ATR; EE; BBBEE).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and ensure implementation of Training and development policies
    • Develop training standard processes and procedures (Standard Work)
    • Form and lead the training committee
    • Prepare internal reports on company-wide training and development initiatives
    • Conduct company-wide skills audits and maintain a centralised, up-to-date skills matrix
    • In conjunction with subject matter experts, develop, implement and monitor relevant training interventions
    • Maintain SLA’s with external training providers and ensure their materials are in line with the operational requirements of the business
    • Develop and monitor specialised programs e.g. accelerated development plans arising from the Organisational Talent Assessment (9 Grid Talent Matrix); Technical Development Matrix; etc.
    • Create competency assessment processes & materials
    • Work with training providers to review existing and develop new suitable content and materials for in-house courses
    • Evaluate instructor performance and effectiveness of programs delivered and provide recommendations for improvements
    • Manage the logistics of Leadership Development Programs
    • Ensure proper on-boarding processes of new employees at the company’s various sites
    • Ensure a record of certificates of competence is kept & renewal dates are specified and followed through
    • Liaise with the relevant SETA’s and ensure legislative compliance
    • Keep track of the SETA refunds & funding programmes supported in each period
    • Accelerate and complete company’s accreditation process as a training provider and/or it’s training programs
    • Recruit and manage trainees for the various divisions of the company
    • Manage training related logistics/administration

      • Total number of trained employees against the skills matrix
      • Improved Engagement levels based on employee development and future growth

    Personal Qualifications & Experience

    Education/Achievements

    • Grade 12 and relevant Diploma/ B-Degree
    • Facilitator Training Qualification
    • ETDP qualification/certification (preferred)

    Experience/Knowledge

    • Min 5 years’ similar training experience (2 years spent in a mining/ engineering/construction environment)
    • Working knowledge of the SETA requirements and legislative compliance procedures
    • Previous experience in planning, facilitation, monitoring and controlling of technical and managerial learning interventions
    • Experience/knowledge of conducting skills audits
    • Experience in learning materials development and assessment methodologies
    • Experience with the accreditation processes would be advantageous

    Specific Skills

    • Computer literacy with advanced excel skills
    • Administration of training and development, including up-keep of a company’s skills matrix
