    Business Development Representative

    Job description

    ROLE | WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    The Business Development team plays a key role in this next phase of our growth and has the responsibility of creating partnerships with leading channels and service providers with the objective of acquiring tens of thousands of new merchants (Yes, we are ambitious), creating new revenue opportunities, and making Yoco the best product that entrepreneurs use to run and grow their business.

    As a Business Development Representative for Johannesburg you will work alongside the Business Development Team in Cape Town as well as other teams in both Johannesburg and Cape Town in order to create meaningful partnerships that accelerate growth or enhance the product experience for our merchants.

    We are looking for someone to join our team who thinks differently about problems, values important relationships and has great entrepreneurial spirit. This person will deliver value to the business development team by defining and executing the strategies and tactics of the Business Development approach for Johannesburg and the broader Gauteng province.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategy Development & Implementation: Develop and implement the strategies and approach for Business Development in Johannesburg & Gauteng, focusing on product offering, go-to-market plan, performance objectives and financial targets across the entire business development lifecycle
    • New Business Development: Proactively identify, qualify, negotiate and activate new partnership opportunities in key industries, channels and sectors
    • Partnership Management: Onboard and continually revisit and analyze partnerships to identify key trends and drive optimization.
    • Tool development & Improvement: Assist in the creation, development and improvement of tools & frameworks we use to approach and manage partnerships
    • Yoco Ambassador: Serve as an evangelist both inside Yoco and externally.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE | WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

    Key Requirements To Perform Responsibilities

    • 2-4 years experience in a business development role
    • Life long learner, loves a challenge, is a true problem-solver
    • Critical thinker, attacking problems and challenges with a ‘strategic’ lens
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Team player
    • Take initiative and proactively seek out the resources needed to solve the problem at hand
    • Ability to easily adapt to a number of environments
    • Drive your own boat: the ability to fearlessly use the resources at your fingertips to resolve technical challenges especially when you don't know the answer
    • Eager to take your career in Business Development to the next level

    Bonus Points

    • Tech-Savvy
    • Knowledge of payments and the mobile Point of Sale space
    • Experience in Small Business / B2B sales
    • Familiarity with payment business models;
    • Technical understanding of point-of-sale technology;
    • Management consulting experience (focus on strategy development and operational/project management)
