    Marketing and Sales Operations Representative

    Job description

    As Marketing and Sales Operations Representative for South Africa, you will work at our Johannesburg District office and be responsible for working closely with our valued dealer network to optimise sales and sales processes in the region. By closely collaborating with dealers on strategic marketing and sales capabilities, sales coverage, and customer experience; you will lead initiatives to improve sales and reduce distribution costs in your assigned territories to grow the Caterpillar machine and engine sales in local markets.

    Job Duties

    The key role of this assignment is applying previous field experience in sales, understanding of customer requirements, and knowledge of process improvement methodologies to improve dealer marketing and sales capabilities and overall customer experience.

    Key Responsibilities Include

    • Act as a liaison among dealers, customers and other Caterpillar personnel to increase sales & improve distribution costs across Caterpillar’s product portfolio.
    • Review current market coverage and implement solutions to expand our customer base to drive incremental sales.
    • Advising dealers on marketing, sales and customer-related strategies, systems and processes to improve their distribution model positively impacting results.
    • Drive sustainable change for both Caterpillar and our dealers by working closely with Cat’s distribution network to improve sales & marketing capabilities across the Caterpillar business model.
    • Implement improvements to the overall customer experience such as expanding market coverage, sales training, technology, etc.
    • Consulting with dealers on marketing and sales strategy planning to improve dealer effectiveness.
    • Perform complex analysis to identify and resolve problems that are less tactical and more strategic to improve results long-term.
    • Assisting dealers in business planning and identify resource requirements to achieve our growth objectives.
    • Overseeing and promoting sales & marketing programs to drive incremental sales to new customers.
    • Interpretation of financial statements, translating actions to impact on dealer financial measures
    • Continuing to develop and enhance market, customer and territory knowledge, communication and influencing skills and leadership capability.
    • Staying abreast of industry and technology changes or developments and relating these developments to Caterpillar, dealer and customer needs.

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    This position requires a results-driven, self-starter with strong networking, collaboration and influencing skills. Projects will be challenging and complex and you should be comfortable with identifying and implementing process improvements and challenging the status-quo.

    Travel across the region will be required - up to 33%.

    Essential

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Marketing or Business-related field.
    • Experience in direct sales, marketing, and applying customer expectations in sales strategies to improve results.
    • Experience in successfully managing 3rd party distributor management with OEMs
    • Experience in Automotive, Construction or Agricultural industries
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

    Desirable

    • In depth knowledge of customers in the construction & power business.
    • Knowledge of Caterpillar products and processes.
    • Strong financial acumen.
    • Additional language skills.
