    Civil Engineer

    Job description

    Shanahan Engineering are happy to announce a requirement for a degree qualified Civil Engineer for our projects in Israel.

    Purpose

    The purpose of this position is to work as an integral part of the site construction team and interface with the client, partners and sub-contractors to ensure all project requirements are met.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Understands all project related Safe Systems of Work, isolation and permit requirements to identify actions which may result in a violation of such systems, escalate risks and issues to the programme and project manager when necessary.
    • Monitors, controls, supervises and supports subcontractors on site for QA/QC and HSE issues.
    • Ensures construction activities comply with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental standards of the project and relevant laws by working with the site Health & Safety Manager and the civil lead engineer.
    • Interface with client design engineers where required to clarify requirements or make recommendations.
    • Ensure quality inspections are performed on all aspects of the constuction.
    • Ensures all construction records and documents are maintained accurate and up to date.
    • Support and clarify interfaces between contractors on site.
    • Drives continuous improvement of compliance monitoring to define pre-emptive actions.
    • Ensures Quality Assurance, integrity and consistency of all construction activities.
    • Ensures through work planning processes that suitable and sufficient resources are available for all construction activities to achieve necessary milestones.
    • Maintains daily log of significant site activities, progress and events.

    • Demonstrable knowledge of power plant standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to construction and with detailed understanding of underlying principles
    • Extensive project planning, coordination, and scheduling of subcontractors

    • Ability to reduce large amounts of data to insightful observations

    Scope

    • Manages the site construction team at site to deliver the requirements of the project specific contract accepted at ITO to OTR handover.
    • Principal Working Relationships
    • Direct working relationship with the civil field engineer, construction manager, site manager and project manager.
    • Direct working relationship with sub-contractors and client’s engineers

    Qualifications

    • Degree in an Engineering or Construction Management discipline.
    • Private industry training in a subject associated with power plants.

    Knowledge & Experience

    • Minimum of 7 years construction experience in the power generation /oil and gas industry.
    • Minimum of 5 years of Site Management or Engineering experience in the overall aspect of EPC projects.
    • Prior role working under an ISO 9001:2008 quality management system.
    • Prior project management experience favorable.
    • Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to communicate complex analyses and concepts to all levels of the project team.
    • Candidate must hold, or be able to obtain, a valid passport and work visas as required in the various countries in which we work.
    • Proficient in all standard MS Office and Adobe applications in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, MS Project.
    • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as required for specific projects.
