Accountant at Pollock & Associates

• As a South African importer and distributor servicing both local and African markets our client is experiencing significant growth in both scale and market reach. To support this expansion, they are strengthening their finance team with the appointment of an Accountant.
• This role offers an opportunity to take ownership of the full accounting function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (minimum)
• 3–5 years’ accounting experience (import/distribution preferred)
• Strong proficiency in Pastel Partner
• Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)
• Solid knowledge of VAT, import costing, and foreign currency transactions
• Multi-entity/group accounting exposure advantageous

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger records in Pastel Partner
• Prepare monthly trial balance and supporting schedules
• Process and reconcile bank accounts, debtors, creditors, and inventory
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy
• Manage VAT submissions and statutory calculations
• Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with auditors
• Collaborate with Administration Manager to ensure accurate data flow
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting
