Actuarial Analyst - Business Pricing at Discovery Limited

Key Purpose

• We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Actuarial Analyst to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives under high pressure, enjoys tackling novel and unfamiliar problems, and is eager to make a significant and strategic impact on the business’s trajectory with their unique business insights.

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

• Operational Analytics: Assist with analytics related to various operational teams, including retentions and servicing. Provide actionable insights to senior management of these operational teams that balances the optimal analytical solution with practical considerations.
• Project Support: Aid in the proposal and implementation of strategic and urgent projects as directed by senior management.
• High-Pressure Problem Solving: Apply first principles thinking to high-level and strategic problems, managing high-pressure requests from senior executives such as the CEO, Chief Analytical Officer and Chief Actuary.
• Curiosity and Innovation: Maintain a curious mindset regarding the external environment and be comfortable solving novel and unfamiliar problems.
• Presentation Skills: Develop and deliver presentations to senior executives and non-technical audiences, with a willingness to quickly learn necessary skills.
• Budgeting and Reporting: Participate in the claims and premium annual budgeting process and provide information for board and results presentations.

Education and Experience

Education:

• Matric (Essential)
• Honours degree in Actuarial Science or outstanding candidate in Mathematical Statistics, Computer Science, mathematics, Economics (Essential)
• Min 5 completed CT subjects if actuarial candidate (Essential). Top 5 in University Class if other degree.

Minimum Experience:              

• 0-3 years of working experience
