    Actuarial Analyst

    Key Purpose

    The focus of the role will be to assist with budgeting and assumption setting, solvency capital modelling, ORSA and internal capital modelling as well various strategic operational and business development projects. The role involves exposure to a wide range of areas such as operations, reserving, finance, product development and wider operations in addition to Group functions.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    Actuarial Responsibilities:

    • Cash flow and capital modelling, including ORSA
    • Modelling of reinsurance contracts
    • Trend analysis and assumption setting for budgeting purposes
    • Assistance with regulatory submissions on solvency and capital
    • Process and modelling improvements
    • Writing reports and presenting at the Discovery Insure Actuarial Committee
    • Presentations for Discovery Insure board and exco
    • Other strategic ad-hoc projects

    Personal Attributes and Skills

    • Programming Skills: VBA, SQL & R (strongly desirable)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
    • Actuarial reserving techniques
    • SAM solvency capital modelling (advantageous)
    • Predictive analytics modelling

    Education and Experience

    • Honours degree in Actuarial Science
    • Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary (FASSA)
    • Programming Skills: VBA, SQL & Prophet (strongly desirable)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
    • SAM solvency capital modelling (advantageous)
    • Predictive analytics modelling
    • 2-4 years working experience
