Actuarial Associate at Swiss Re

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join the Valuations team for Swiss Re Africa. This role will offer the opportunity for someone to be trained in SAM and IFRS valuations for Life and Health and P&C business and eventually take ownership of the liabilities of a major South African reinsurer. Key Responsibilities Include

• Developing a sound understanding of the underlying risks on the Swiss Re Africa Balance Sheet, and using this knowledge to facilitate proactive management of this portfolio of risks.
• Providing support in the production and analysis of valuation results, across all bases (US GAAP, SAM, IFRS, Others), for our L&H business for the MEA region.
• Performing valuation experience studies of the underlying portfolios
• Working closely with other functions – including the CRO, CFO, HAF and Marketing of Swiss Re Africa.

About You
Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Actuarial student
• Experience with insurance or reinsurance reporting is an advantage.
• Familiar with the range of L&H insurance products. Specific market experience / knowledge advantageous.
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or an economic valuation framework preferred, other bases are an asset
• Strong Excel skills.
