    Africa Information & Analytics Analyst

    Scope of the Role - Main Accountabilities:

    This role is part of the Africa Performance Management Team (APM) of the Africa Cluster/PMU and will serve to support the current APM accountant. Primary scope for Performance Management (PM) and Information and Analytics (I&A) is the objective of transitioning to the end state model of best-in-class capabilities, insightful analytics and landing world class quality reporting that would result in superior performance management across the Cluster at an Executive level as well as across functional areas be it Executive, Finance, CD and Marketing.

    The purpose of this role will cover these main areas:

    • Consolidation and analysis of

      • Africa P&L Actuals results and commentary of performance for ALT.

      • Africa Forecast for LT and MCO reviews – analysing variances and providing insights.

      • Ensuring accuracy between reporting tools such as iFinance and GCUT and highlighting variances immediately to ensure root cause can be addressed and solved.

    Business Partnering across Africa network to support teams during MEC and Forecast deadlines to drive best in class practices and constantly improve ways of working.

    Detailed job description:

    The consolidation and analysis of information from Africa cluster business units.

    • Africa PL Actuals

    • Africa PL Forecast

    Constant engagement with Africa Team to provide support, clarity, and to better understand the data provided Collate and analyse commentary provided on Actuals. Assist MCO and Uniops team by managing all MEC and FC activities to completion ensuring all submission are submitted on time and in full in accordance with Global reporting requirements. Assist with the preparation of presentations based on results and forecasts for the UL Africa Leadership team.

    • Africa Flash Results (First view of Turnover, WD1)

    • Africa Results Headlines – Consolidated Africa results by MCO

    • Monthly TWC Report

    • FD Packs – Quarterly Financial Director’s meetings

    • Monthly Sales build

    Analyse submitted results and forecasts across the Africa region to provide timely information to management. Other ad-Hoc reporting and analysis including Supporting HR with target setting, providing Africa data to CMI and other presentations as needed. Driving continuous process and control improvement. Bringing innovative solutions to the Africa I&A space eg, streamlining processes, finding best-in-class ways to present data. Being responsible for Data integrity - ensuring accuracy between reporting tools such as iFinance and GCUT and highlighting variances immediately to ensure root cause can be addressed and solved. Gather insights from countries on areas of improvement and help build effective solutions with teams. Project work – this is ongoing was we find effective solution to automate submissions or reporting etc. e.g. GMVA FC submission automation in 2022.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Understanding Management Reporting and Unilever P&L

    • Understanding business drivers, processes and metrics.

    • Technical knowledge of balance sheet and various key measurement metrics.

    • Advanced excel skills and efficiency on iFinance/BW/GCUT.

    • Being able to propose improvements in reporting/submissions/processes via automation or simplifying processes.

    • Attention to detail a must, as reports are delivered to senior management.

    • Ability to efficiently land visualization guidelines to deliver world class reports

    • Ability to operate with flexibility, agility, working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines in a fast paced and demanding environment

    • Good communication & influencing skills.

    • Ability to operate in multi-functional and multi-currency environments and with multi-cultural teams.

    Relevant Experience:

    Bcomm Hons (Accounting)/ Finance, studying towards or qualified CIMA/CA.

    • Experience (minimum 3-5 years).

    • Experience operating in multi-functional, multi-currency and preferably with multi cultural teams an advantage.

    • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills.

    • Systems knowledge – SAP, iFinance, BW, GCUT.

    • Experience in Management Reporting and key metrics and drivers in the P&L.
