Afrikaans News Content Manager at Media24 (Pty) Ltd

Skills & Competencies:

• Creating and repackaging content for social media, with a clear interest in short-format video platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube)
• Strong writing abilities in Afrikaans
• Short-format video creation
• Multimedia and digital content production with tools like Canva and Adobe creative cloud (Photoshop, Audition, PremierPro)
• Grow social media communities with interactive and innovative ideas.
• Competent with generative AI-tools such as Canva Magic editor, Toqan AI, Adobe Firefly, etc.
• Full cycle project management: from conception to execution, and stakeholder management
• Sustain our growing interaction rate on social media
• Moderate comments on all of our social media platforms for Netwerk24 and Die Burger, Volksblad and Beeld
• Engage with our Afrikaans audience’s questions and feedback
• Liaise between our audiences and our editorial team/service desk.
• Compose frequent audience analysis and profiles for head of audience development
• Strong communication skills and team player
• Be a problem solver and detail orientated
• Will report directly to the head of audience development

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must be fluent and proficient in Afrikaans
• Must be fluent and proficient in Afrikaans – read, write and speak
• Two to three+ years editorial experience
• A degree in preferably journalism, media studies or any relevant tertiary degree.
• Knowledge of the press code and journalistic values
• Based in Cape Town
• Knowledge of social media platforms and their business features, including Meta-products and TikTok
• Experience with social media management tools like Brandwatch (previously Falcon IO), Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.
• Have basic video, graphics, and photo editing skills.
• Have experience with building newsletters, preferably with the Braze-platform
• Must be able to work under pressure in a dynamic news environment and within a team
• Must be able to work flexible hours and over weekends (if required) and public holidays
