Job Requirements

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that the operational targets are met.
• Ensure that sources are accepted as per prescribed procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory and environmental waste requirements.
• Provide in-service and maintenance support for the NLM facilities
• Ensure that sources are received as per the request from clients
• Register all sources on the Source Tracking System (STS)
• Carry out Decommissioning of DSRS
• Carry out SHARS operations including international missions
• Carry out source conditioning activities at the source storage facility
• Ensure that operational /work procedures are developed and maintained
• Proper handling and maintenance of sources
• Pre-task assessment before removal of sources at external clients
• Implementation of modifications and installations to NWM facilities and processes as required.
• Ensure compliance to NWM facility Inspection and Maintenance programs
• Co-ordinating of statutory inspection requirements for the buildings under NWM supervision

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITY

• Ensure that all safety instructions are adhered to
• Ensure that all PPE are used at all relevant times and according to instructions
• Ensure PPE is kept in an acceptable condition
• Compiling quarterly reports
• Report all incidents and near misses
• Minimise and reporting of wasteful expenditure on consumables

SECURITY CONTROL OF SOURCE STORE

• Ensure that the facility security requirements are adhered to
• Ensure that the facility is locked if no work is conducted

 HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITY Project & Stakeholder Interface

• Ensure that working areas are kept clean and acceptable
• Ensure that all equipment’s are cleaned, maintained, and are on the inventory list

Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12
• Qualified Artisan (Fitter & Turner)/ Welder
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the mechanical maintenance field and nuclear waste facilities.
• Experience in handling of DSRS.
