    • Branch: Infrastructure Management: Central Operations
    • Directorate: Operations Central
    • Salary: R243 597 – R408 048 per annum (OSD)
    • Centre: Jericho Usutu River

    Requirements and Expectations

    Minimum Requirements

    • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Fitter and Turner).
    • A valid, unexpired driver’s license (must be disclosed).
    • Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team.
    • Sound understanding of production processes and technical skills.
    • Knowledge of technical analysis and computer-aided applications (MS Word and Excel).
    • Familiarity with legal compliance and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
    • Competence in technical report writing, problem solving, and decision making.
    • Strong planning, organizing, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Attributes: Creativity, self-management, analytical thinking, customer focus, and responsiveness.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform mechanical maintenance and repair on bulk raw water infrastructure such as dams, reservoirs, pump stations, and pipelines.
    • Inspect equipment for technical faults and carry out repairs in line with required standards.
    • Conduct routine servicing of equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans.
    • Ensure quality assurance and compliance with technical specifications.
    • Manage and properly utilize tools, materials, and resources assigned to the workshop.
    • Enforce adherence to safety standards, policies, and regulations within the workplace.
    • Implement and monitor planned maintenance programmes, and update maintenance logbooks.
    • Compile and submit technical and progress reports as required.
    • Supervise and mentor junior staff to ensure skill transfer and productivity.
    • Participate in continuous professional development to stay updated on new technologies and maintenance practices.
    • Demonstrate willingness to travel for operational and maintenance duties as required.
