    Asset Care Manager

    Job Description

    About This Role

    • Based in Isipingo, we are looking for an Asset Care Manage to lead the development and implementation of the site asset care strategy and drive significant improvement in overall engineering performance through direction of the asset care teams involved with Packaging, Brewing, Distilling, Facilities and Asset Care.
    • The role holder will lead the delivery of world class performance in all aspects of the balanced scorecard (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost), manage a support service for the operation that achieves optimum performance and reliability of equipment, improves site resilience within agreed budgets and proactively influence the business area Capex agenda.
    • Owning the overall development of maintenance competence for the site, specifically the upskilling of asset care teams to accommodate the changes in role brought about by Asset Care and Autonomous Maintenance programmes and managing utilities and other suppliers, while also building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Primary contact for utilities suppliers, working with the Compliance team to set expectations for improvement for suppliers and monitoring their performance.
    • Is site lead of the contractor base, runs and manages as required.
    • Effective at leading multifunctional workgroups in problem solving.
    • Builds a strong working relationship with Operations Manager(s) and Manufacturing Excellence Manager
    • Custodian and advocate of safety of engineering work on site and leader of good governance around internal and external compliance (health & safety, quality and environment).

    A day in the life of Asset Care Manager.

    • Optimise efficiency on site by ensuring effective asset care systems and practices are delivered.
    • Manage the asset care budget and provide input into the capital budget. Allocate R&M budget to Operations Managers
    • Facilitate all Engineering Capex projects within the site.
    • Develop improvement plans for utility usage through clear measures of energy performance.
    • Ensure all outsourced activity is managed effectively through performance management framework and is recorded in Diageo CMMS systems (e.g. SAP PM)
    • Ensure all health, safety and environment, quality, cost and reliability standards are met and driving conformance to regulatory and accreditation standards on site.
    • Coach direct reports to identify areas of underperformance and produce accident/incident reporting to a level that enables learning and root cause to be established.
    • Role model and coach reports in the use systemic problem-solving tools within the department
    • Participate in the T3 Daily Operational Review. Provide expert experience and guidance to support strategic problem-solving issues
    • Deliver 100% P4G conversations and personal development plans for all team members (both technical and behavioural competencies) to ensure development of maintenance competence in specialist and asset care teams
    • Own communication and culture for asset care and ensure messages are cascaded and team aligned.

    Experience (Essential)

    • A professional engineer with experience developed over a number of roles.
    • Proven technical ability to manage in a complex environment, delivering practical solutions.
    • Delivery of maintenance best practice and engineering project management
    • Proven ability to lead and manage people performance, coaching and development of a multi-disciplined team of up to 25 people.
    • Sound and proven financial acumen.
    • Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills learnt through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing excellence.
    • Proficient in use of standard business (MS Office) and Diageo package

    Desirable/developed in role

    • SAP (or MRP systems), Planned Maintenance, Environmental and Quality systems
    • Knowledge of local Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and controls e.g. COMAH

    Excellence In Supply Chain

    • Is experienced of working within the Performance Management structure of KPI’s and Tier Review Meeting Structure
    • Has a proven track record in adherence to Core Process and Standards
    • Demonstrates role model behaviour and coaches’ others to follow a consistent approach and go beyond mandatory minimum requirements.
    • Proactively leverages the learning curriculums and materials on My Learning Hub and other sources to continuously grow and develop in role.
