    Assistant Accountant (Contract) - Homechoice (Southern Suburbs (Cape))

    Description

    • Homechoice is a leading South African homeware retailer. For almost 40 years we’ve helped our customers create beautiful homes they love with an innovative range of quality products they can afford.

    What you will love doing in this role

    Key-Performance Areas:

    • Reconciliation of the Showroom Asset register to the ledger
    • Split out summary capitalization to its various components
    • Update of Asset register and useful life from detailed reconciliations to project accounting
    • Assist Account payable team with Vendor Statement to Ledger reconciliations
    • Assist Account payable team with Vendor Invoicing
    • Performance of various ad-hoc activities to support the finance department in achieving its reporting objectives, including, but not limited to:
    • Process requested correcting/adjusting journal entries.
    • Perform any investigations requested by the Team Leader or Financial Managers.
    • Prepare any ad-hoc reports as requested by Finance Managers.
    • Preparation of any schedules required as part of the year-end audit process.

    What you’ll need to do this role

    Requirements    

    Qualifications & Accreditations:

    • Studying towards B Comm accounts degree 
    • Bachelor of Commerce Degree / National Diploma in Accounting advantageous
    • Immediate availability

    Experience & Skills:

    • 3-5 Years experience in a Finance role
    • Intermediate / Advanced level of Excel skills
    • Numerical skills
    • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
    • Previous working experience in retail/ financial services would be advantageous
