Assistant Catering Manager - Healthcare at Tsebo Solution

• We are seeking an organised, passionate Assistant Catering Manager to support the effective delivery of our catering services. The Assistant Catering Manager plays a key role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and that residents receive high-quality meals that meet their dietary needs. You will support the Catering Manager in daily operations, staff supervision, menu planning, food safety compliance, and maintaining high service standards.

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Assist the Catering Manager with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
• Supervise catering and kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflows and teamwork
• Support menu planning, including special diets, allergies, and resident preferences
• Ensure all meals are prepared to high nutritional and presentation standards
• Oversee stock control, ordering, deliveries, and cost management
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
• Assist with staff training and performance development
• Create a positive, respectful, and resident-focused food service environment

Skills and Competencies    

• Experienced in catering, hospitality, or a similar environment (care facility experience advantageous)
• Strong in team leadership and communication
• Knowledgeable about food safety and hygiene regulations
• Passionate about serving older adults with dignity and care
• Organised, proactive, and able to work well under pressure
• Creative in problem-solving and adaptable to changing needs

Qualifications    

• Must have completed at least a National Senior Certificate
• Relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality – advantageous
• 2 years’ experience in the catering  on a supervisory level
