Assistant Catering Manager - Johannesburg (LL) at Tsebo Solution

• Fedics are seeking an Assistant Catering Manager to join our Healthcare division. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Catering Manager with the day-to-day operations of delivering a catering service that meets the required standards.

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Assist with the production of meals, snacks, and functions, ensuring quality standards are met
• Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently; step in where required
• Assist with menu planning and costing Place supplier orders and manage procurement
• Complete administrative tasks (returns, salary variations, etc.) Receive, issue, and manage stock (quality, quantity, pricing, storage, rotation)
• Maintain hygiene standards in line with statutory and company requirements

• Ensure security of stock, cash, and facilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop staff
• Manage service delivery standards and customer experience
• Operate and manage systems (Menutec, Plankomat, biometric) Ensure financial control, including: Sales control sheets Cash handling and reconciliation Monthly closure Weekly financial file management
• Compile and understand weekly/monthly P&L reports
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Handle HR and IR-related matters (performance, training, development)
• Build and maintain strong client and customer relationships
• Analyse client needs and proactively manage complaints
• Assist with functions, promotions, and food & beverage events
• Stay updated on food trends and best practices
• Ensure profitability of the unit at all times
• Support overall operations and assist where required

Qualifications    

• Matric and relevant Culinary tertiary qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with management experience, including exposure to accounting systems
• Previous relevant industry experience would be highly advantageous
