Assistant Chief - SWAT (Traffic, Law Enforcement/Director - Metro Police)
Relevant Degree/B Tech in Policing or similar field
Computer literacy in MS Office Applications
Proficiency in two of the official languages of the Western Cape (one of which is English)
Report Writing and presentation skills
Knowledge of all relevant legislations, regulations and policies
Valid Driver’s licence (at least code B)
No criminal record or illicit activity recorded
Must qualify to be registered (appointed) as a member of Municipal Police Service, as per Regulation 11 of the South African Police Service Amendment Act, 1995 (Act. 68 of 1995) or must achieve such within 18 months after appointment
Registered as Peace Officer
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Policing or similar environment (including 5 years managerial and 3 years supervisory experience in a Policing or similar environment)
Preference will be given to candidates with proven managerial and operational skills in SAPS Special Task Force.
Key Performance Areas
Manage, lead and co-ordinate policing operations within the City of Cape Town.
Manage personnel and performance within the functional unit/ area.
Plan, monitor and control the operating and capital budget; monitor and control theft and loss within the functional unit/area.
Coordinate the drafting of reports within the functional unit/area.
Ensure good working relations between the City of Cape Town and its external service providers e.g Independent Complaints Directorate and South African Police Service.
Manage and monitor the consolidation, processing and presentation of all relevant data (COMSTATS).
Manage training and skills development and the transfer of skills and knowledge.
