Key performance areas

• Assist the cook with preparing healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks.
• Wash, peel, cut and portion ingredients.
• Serve meals according to the school’s daily schedule.
• Clean the kitchen, utensils, equipment and food preparation areas.
• Follow food-safety, hygiene and allergy-control procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• Previous kitchen or food preparation experience.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
• Reliable, organised and physically able to perform kitchen duties.
• Comfortable working in a nursery school environment.
• Clear criminal record and required child-safeguarding clearance.
• Grade 12 / Matric
• Previous experience in Hospitality would be beneficial
