Assistant Processes Controller X5 – REF: JW395EX/2025 at Johannesburg Water

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in cleaning tanks by manually using spades and rakes to remove debris into solid waste bins. Clean the weirs of tanks with brooms. Assist in removing weeds and debris from the centre boxes and walls of tanks. Assist in cleaning disinfection tanks by removing settled sludge physically. Assist in general operations and maintenance.
• Clean up sludge spillages and loading it into solid waste bins. Remove dry sludge from sludge drying beds manually for mechanical removal. Routine cleaning of offices, toilets facilities and change rooms. Routine cleaning of pump stations and working areas. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Clear and clean work area after malfunctions and spillages. Assist in general physical work when needed to ensure Work’s compliance with legislation and standards. Assist from time to time in planned team process controller activities involving projects to rectify non-compliances. Promote safety by immediately rectifying unsafe working conditions or equipment and reporting this to Supervisor.
• Follow instructions by Supervisor regarding Disaster Management plan. Operate and carry out all work within the statutory requirements as laid out in the OHASA as per instructions from Supervisor. Wear and ensure proper use of PPE.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

For applicants with Minimum of 4 Years Wastewater experience:

• Std 6 / Grade8 plus Treatment Training Certificate 
• Matric / Grade 12 (or NTCIII) (Mathematics + Science)

For applicants with Minimum of 3 Years Wastewater experience:

• Std 7 / Grade 9 plus Treatment Training Certificate 

For applicants with Minimum of 2 Years Wastewater experience:

• Std 8 / Grade 10 (NTC I) plus Treatment Training Certificate or
• Std 8 / Grade 10 (NTC I) Water and Wastewater Treatment practice

N1 or

•  Std 8/Grade 10 (NTC I) plus the Core Unit Standard from the Water and Wastewater NQF 2 Qualification equivalent to a value of at least 30 credits or
• Water and Wastewater NQF 2 Qualification

For applicants with Minimum of 1.5 Years Wastewater experience:

• NTC 1 in Water and Wastewater Treatment practice

For applicants with Minimum of 1 Year Wastewater experience:

• Std 8/ Grade 10 (or NTC I) plus Operations certificate or
• Std 8 / Grade 10- (or NTCI) plus Core Unit Standards from the Water and Wastewater 
•       NQF 3 qualification equivalent to a value of least 30 credits or
• Matric / Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus Treatment Training Certificate

For applicants with a Minimum of 0.5 Years of Wastewater experience:

• Std 9 / Grade11 (or NTCII) plus Operators certificate or
• Std 9 / Grade11(NTCII) plus Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice N2 or 
• Std 9 / Grade11(NTCII) plus Core Unit Standards from the Wastewater NQF 3 Qualification equivalent to a value of least 30 credits or 
• NTC II in Water and Wastewater Treatment practice or
•  Water and Wastewater NQF 3 Qualification

For applicants with Minimum of 0 years Wastewater experience:

• Matric/Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus Operators Certificate or 
• Matric/ Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus Wastewater Treatment practice N3 or
•  Matric/Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus the Core Unit Standards from the Water and Wastewater NQF 4 Qualification equivalent to a value of at least 30 credit or 
• NTCIII in Wastewater Treatment practice or
• Wastewater Treatment NQF 4 Qualification
