    Associate Professor - Political Studies (E230261)

    Introductory paragraph

    • We invite applications to fill a permanent position in the Department of Political Studies at UCT at the level of Associate Professor. The Department is responsible for teaching Politics, International Relations, Public Policy andmAdministration, and Transitional Justice at all levels, and it is one of the leading centers of research into politics, broadly conceived, on the African Continent.
    • The Department seeks to make an appointment as soon as possible in the broad fields of International Relations and International Political Economy.

    Requirements for the job:

    • A PhD in Political Studies or International Relations.
    • A proven track record of scholarly publications in International Relations.
    • Experience in high-quality research in International Relations.
    • Experience in teaching and convening postgraduate courses.
    • A proven track record of successful masters and PhD supervision.
    • The following will be advantageous:
    • Experience with quantitative research methods in research and teaching.
    • Experience with Academic administration and Academic Leadership.

    Responsibilities:

    • The position involves a combination of research, teaching, administration, and social responsiveness at
    • Associate Professor level. The teaching, administrative and supervision duties of the appointee will be
    • determined on the basis of the successful candidate’s skills and research interests and priorities, and the
    • needs of the department.
    • Appointment will take place in alignment with the faculty’s expectations for performance at each rank.
