Assurance Specialist at SAIPA

Key Purpose

Responsible for providing expert guidance on assurance services, focusing on Auditing Standards, Independent Reviews, and the Companies Act. To assist SAIPA in obtaining accreditation from the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA)and maintain the accreditation subsequently. 

Assurance Advisory and Support:

• Provide advisory services to members on audit and assurance matters including compliance with the Companies Act, audit standards, and independent review standards.
• Design templates and working papers related to audit processes and assurance services to ensure best practices and compliance with regulatory standards to support members.
• Respond to members queries on any assurance matters, including auditing, independent reviews and agreed upon procedures.
• Respond to members on any practice management.
• Guide members and respond to any queries on the ISQM 1, or International Standard on Quality Management 1, titled “Quality Management for Firms that Perform Audits or Reviews of Financial Statements, or Other Assurance or Related Services Engagements,”

IRBA Accreditation Process:

• Lead the initiative to assist SAIPA in obtaining IRBA accreditation, including preparing documentation, liaising with IRBA, and ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.

• Respond to any IRBA accreditation questions and follow up information required
• Guide and support SAIPA members in preparing for the IRBA accreditation, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to meet accreditation standards.
• Prepare material to support and develop members in any of the IRBA standards

Educational and Event Management:

• Prepare and present webinars focused on assurance standards, including topics on independent reviews, audits, and agreed-upon procedures.
• Review educational materials and presentations are up to date with the latest assurance practices and standards.
• Identify relevant topics and standards on which members need to be developed in

Regulatory Liaison and Compliance:

• Maintain ongoing communication and liaison with IRBA to facilitate accreditation processes and ensure compliance with assurance standards.
• Monitor changes in assurance regulations and standards,
• Provide regular updates to SAIPA and its members on regulatory changes.

Content Development and Publications:

• Develop content for SAIPA’s educational programs, focusing on assurance topics to enhance members’ knowledge and professional development.
• Contribute to assurance-related articles and updates for SAIPA publications, such as the Professional Accountant Magazine.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualification

• Honors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Articles Completed in an Audit Firm
• Preferably Registered Auditor

Experience

• 3 years minimum of extensive/indepth understanding of auditing, assurance standards, and the Companies Act.
• 3 years Experience with IRBA processes and standards is highly advantageous.
