    Bid Director

    The Bid Director will work closely within the Marketing & Sales team, be based in London and report into the CFO.

    • Participating and support annual reviews including new market entry analysis
    • Evaluating and engaging with Saab Business Area Bid Managers prioritising resources to support proposal development and delivery
    • Assemble, manage and lead, as appropriate, bid teams from across Saab Business Units developing a close working relationship across the BU functions in collaboration with the UK Sales Team
    • Ensure proposal responses address both the customer key evaluation criteria and the underlying issues and are best placed to win
    • Ensuring bids are delivered within Saab Business Win guidelines, with WB reviews held and requisite approvals gained
    • Ensuring the timely delivery of compliant high quality bids and proposals, using industry standard Business Winning principles and disciplines
    • Arranging / supporting bid reviews
    • Ensure lessons learned sessions are held post bid submissions and the outcome read across future bid/proposals.
       

    Your Experience & Skills

    Core Capabilities

    • Proven leadership skills
    • Excellent customer proposal writing skills
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a major bid, ideally in the defence industry
    • The skills required to bring together and making work effectively a multidisciplinary bid team of experts from across a Business Area or Business Unit which will answer the question effectively for MOD/DE&S
    • Thorough understanding of a Phase / Gate Review process associated with an LCM system
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrable capability in forming strong and trusted stakeholder relationships
    • Team workload planning
    • Able to establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with employees, suppliers, customers including the capacity to represent the Company to internal and external stakeholders.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Shipley or similar Business Win and proposal writing accreditation
    • Marketing, Legal or Finance qualifications

    Required Experience

    • Knowledge or experience of working with MOD especially DE&S and has a track record of successful bids
    • 5 years demonstrated ability in complex bid/proposal management and proposal team leadership
    • Strong commercial and financial acumen
    • The demonstrated ability to be innovative and think laterally.
