Billing Medical Aid Collector (Permanent Position) at Lancet Laboratories

Job Summary:

• To ensure the efficient collection of medical aid claims and maintenance of medical aid related information.

Minimum Criteria Required:

• Grade 12 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
• Tertiary Education in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration preferred

 Experience:

• > 2 Years Relevant Working Experience (Finance/Accounting/Business Administration/ Medical Aid/Insurance/Debtors/Creditors)

Relevant Job Knowledge:

• Healthcare billing procedures, documentation and standards

Key Performance Areas:

• Provides excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction
• Required to perform any other duties as assigned by management
• Attends to queries and ensures prompt and efficient response.
• Performs duties within the scope of the working instructions and SOP’s.
• Checks and edits data for resubmission of claims to medical aid.
• Ensures the setting up of all medical aid related information on the system is correct.
• To ensure that all claims submitted to the various medical funds are either paid or rejected within the claiming period.
• Ensure payment is received on the due date, processed and the suspense accounts reconciled.
• Track medical aid payments made and ensure all electronic remittance advice as well as manual remittances have been received and allocated.
• Prints and resolves system generated compile (report) for failed claims and edits.
• Searches the database for valid information before validating a claim.
• Attends to written communication relevant to decease estates and MVA (Motor vehicle accidents) claims in line with Billing department work instructions.
• Responsible for obtaining information and checking accounts on deceased to ensure arrangements for payments or to write off with the necessary authorisation
• Liaises with attorney or patient on Estate Lates/ MVA claims to make arrangements for payments.
