CAD Jewellery Designer at Shimansky

General Description

The CAD Jewellery Designer will be responsible for demonstrating high levels of technical and creative ability, designing jewellery and developing CAD designs in 3D Design. Working in a collaborative environment you will be required to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Matric
• 2-3 years’ minimum experience working as a jewellery designer and/or CAD designer
• Degree in Design and/or Fine Arts preferred, or a related degree.
• Understanding of the luxury jewellery market
• Thorough knowledge of jewellery manufacturing techniques and materials
• Experience with CAD/CAM and related 3D design software and computer skills including rendering experience
• Strong technical drawing and hand sketching abilities
• Knowledge of 3D printing, jewellery photography and Photoshop are advantageous

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and develop Fine Jewellery Collections within designated design briefs
• Produce on-trend and high-quality CAD jewellery designs that enhance the development of product, consistent with the company’s creative goals
• Produce hand drawn rough concepts and produce technical drawings to submit to CAD
• Identify critical issues for consideration that may impact design aesthetics, as well as the manufacturing/quality of the final product
• Ensure that designs meet company standards
• Uphold design integrity, high quality execution and timeliness throughout the development process
• Generate CAD for rendering of jewellery pictures
• Scaling of CAD models for further processing, casting, component cleaning to achieve desired target dimensions
• Meet regularly with the Directors to discuss and ensure project deadlines
• Take the initiative and assume ownership on numerous projects within a fast-paced environment
