    Category Pricing Manager

    The role will be responsible for managing and analysing all key data necessary for driving all essential business relating to Pricing and Promotional strategies. This position drives effective pricing decisions that deliver top-line growth and price realization through the delivery of timely and insightful analysis and recommendations. Building effective relationships with our Category, Category Development, Sales & Finance business partners, and External Customers offering pricing insights to unlock category growth via value realization. The candidate will be required to work cross-functionally and will play an important role in using both internal and 3rd party data to present key analyses to track business performance. The candidate will be required to drive collaboration within the business by facilitating effective planning sessions and influencing key stakeholders with relevant data models. The overall function assists the business by empowering them with intelligence that will result in better decision-making and organisational performance.

    What you need to know about this position:

    • Support the development, management, and monitoring of pricing and promotional strategies
    • Own the regular production and ongoing harmonization of pricing and market reporting.
    • Work closely with business partners to improve the quality of pricing acumen across the organization
    • Drive the adoption of market intelligence as an integral step in helping key stakeholders stay updated with their business performance by proving timeous and accurate information about their customers, segments, product portfolios, etc.                    
    • Preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly full-year, and ad-hoc performance dashboards and reports        
    •  Leads definition of the pricing framework and parameters over the planning horizon.
    • Future year Planning - Plays a key role in contract build and the strategic planning process. Plays a supporting and inputting role in the category and channel strategy.
    • Coaching and developing others to achieve their best. Create opportunities for direct report to develop. Regular feedback and cascading of message
    • Building Capability: Continuously improve the quality of pricing acumen across the organization to support sound decision making
    • Model price elasticities across categories
    • Expertise in price, volume & pricing modeling – PVP modeling (Price Volume Profit)
    • Expertise in price pack architecture, understanding the PPA process and building PPA modeling (Price Pack Architecture)
    • Ad hoc analysis as required

    Education / Certifications:

    • Relevant Tertiary Degree or Diploma – Statistics, Mathematics, or related degree preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of work with pricing analytics and strategies

    Job specific requirements:

    • Excellent working knowledge of Excel (creating Pivot tables, vlookups, etc is a must)  
    • Experienced in working with large data sets, reports, and dashboard development                                  
    • Highly analytical and must have good communication and presentation skills
    • Uses data analytics to solve and influence key business decision-makers
    • Individual to be flexible to accommodate urgent requirements and be prepared to work outside normal hours from time to time.
    • Familiarity with creating and maintaining SOP documentation
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and within tight timelines
    • Excellent planning, and communication skills
    • Excellent systems knowledge (SAP, Microsoft, etc.) is a must
    • FMCG operational and analytics experience is a prerequisite
    • Open-minded and willing to constantly learn and find better, effective ways to work
    • Ability to sometimes progress analytical solutions in the delay/absence of data
    • Excellent business understanding and know-how on how to use data to build a data-driven function
    • Knowledge of Retail Analysis tools is advantageous (Nielsen. Other Market Intelligence Reporting datasets)
