Catering Manager - Healthwise - Mossel Bay at Tsebo Solution

• We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Catering Manager to oversee all food service operations within our hospital. This role plays an essential part in ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors receive nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals every day. Duties & Responsibilities    

• Oversee the preparation, delivery, and service of meals across the hospital
• Lead, supervise, and develop the catering team
• Ensure all meals meet prescribed dietary and medical requirements
• Collaborate with dietitians, nursing staff, and clinical teams
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards
• Manage stock control, ordering, menu cycles, and budgeting
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Handle performance management, staffing schedules, and training
• Coordinate meal service for special diets, allergies, and cultural requirements
• Maintain exceptional service levels for patients, staff restaurants, and visitors

Skills and Competencies    

• Proven experience in catering management, preferably within healthcare or a high-compliance environment
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and hospital nutritional standards (advantageous)
• Sound understanding of food safety regulations and HACCP principles
• Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment
• A passion for delivering compassionate, patient-centred service

Qualifications    

• National Senior Certificate
• Relevant Culinary Degree/Diploma or Certificate 
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience Chef / Catering Manager within retail 
• Experience in managing team of 20 staff
• Functions / events experience
• Managing convenience store experience
• Own reliable transport
