    Change Manager

    Key responsibilities

    • Build a strategy and plan to establish the change management capability within the HR Enablement function to be visible and active across the region.

    • Become a credible subject matter expert on the topic of change management specialising within the Talent community but also building brand across other areas of the business.

    • Develop and continue to enhance change management tools within the Talent community to make change a sustainable ‘way of work’. Providing support, guidance and education to Project and change agents and other change managers and the wider Regional Talent team to ensure successful implementation of change methods for their projects.

    • Collaborate honestly and authentically to build an understanding and appreciation for the value of change management within your stakeholder groups and build on successful implementations to enhance the credibility of the change management capability.

    • Ability to navigate the EY global network and source the best solutions and be curious about new tools that the end users impacted by the change can benefit from.

    • Interpret and translate change management instructions and toolkits from the global teams  to meet the needs of the region whilst remaining within the prescribed programme framework and localising local requirements.

    • Build understanding of the EY change management methodology and consult with our regional change management client facing teams to remain abreast and informed of current change management best practice trends

    • Collaborate and interact with internal functions (i.e. Talent Leaders, Global programme teams, Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC), Facilities etc.) to effectively co-ordinate deliverables from their teams that impact the successful implementation of the change management capability across the region.

    • Ability to identify influencers in the business and actively engage them to perform the duties of a change agent network not only on projects but also to support operational peaks and troughs of business as usual activities.

    • Continuously build knowledge and understanding of the business operations to pro-actively anticipate and support behavioural and process changes that impacts the firm and its people

    • Understand the Talent priorities and how these translate and support the projects and initiatives that are being implemented

    • Apply a structured change management methodology and approach to specific programmes impacting Talent and/or the wider firm.  

    • Maintain oversight of project impacts and populations impacted, initiating actions to minimize disruption to the business.

    • Create and execute on actionable deliverables for key change management areas: managing communications, stakeholder engagement, training and coaching, managing resistance, reinforcement and close-out. 

    • Conduct change impact assessments across the various areas of the project depending on the scale and nature of the project and articulate a future state that the end users can relate to

    • Integrate change management activities into project plan whilst understanding the technical aspects of the project and important milestones that trigger specific change activities

    • Deliver/support the design, development, delivery and management of communication planning and delivery – in partnership with BMC and subject matter experts where applicable.

    • Develop key messages tailored to the stakeholder groups to ensure the correct messaging is cascaded at the correct team and that all stakeholder groups are adequately informed according to the stakeholder engagement plan.

    • Execution and tracking of the regional communication schedule and interpreting the impact of global communications on regional communications.

    • Develop engagement decks of all nature for the intended user group ensuring the correct key messages are conveyed at the right time

    • Conduct a stakeholder analysis and build a stakeholder engagement plan to track the various stages of adoption on high influence stakeholders

    • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with Talent and other Enablement functions, other priority stakeholders and leaders based on the needs of individual projects

    • Compile and drive business readiness surveys and trackers throughout the various change management cycles to identify pockets of resistance

    • Build a change manager or change agent network to activate change management activities in all countries within the region to support adoption of the change

    • Provide input, document requirements, and support the design and delivery of training programs that is tailored and suitable for the Africa region or project specific stakeholders

    • Assess the effectiveness of the training and identify additional training requirements to address a gap in knowledge

    • Develop an ongoing community or coaching platform that sustains changes and updates in the future process

    • Develop metrics for success for the people component of the change with the stakeholders identified and provide progress updates thereof throughout the project

    • Formulate corrective actions as and when required to drive team and individual adoption of the change

    • Develop and implement surveys and assessments including business readiness assessments to identify areas of resistance

    • Track and report issues according to the agreed method to promote transparency on the progress towards success and escalate as and when needed to the correct group

    • Lead transition and cutover management, ensuring that business as usual is maintained during the transition and the changes are effectively integrated into the business as usual activities and operational teams

    • Reinforce change management activities post the implementation of the change to support adoption of the new system or processes

    • Assess projects at the end to identify areas that could be improved upon at the next project iteration of a similar nature

     

    Skills and attributes for success

    • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and activities that should be implemented at certain points to support effective change management

    • Expert knowledge of change management methodology and ability to execute change acting as a change manager or change agent in a network.

    • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and manage competing priorities, whilst thinking innovatively.

    • Strong communication skills to enable working collaboratively and effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels across the organisation and with proven influencing skills.

    • High attention to detail, with expert organisation skills, and ability to work autonomously and proactively in-line with changing priorities.

    • Ability to flex style accordingly to influence a variety of senior stakeholders.

    • Goal oriented, ability to take on an objective and transform it into a concrete plan.

    • A champion of change regardless of the action being completed

    • Ability to write creative pieces to convey the story of the change effectively

    • Ability to proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities, solve problems and drive to exceed expectations.

    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

    • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

    • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere

    • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics

    • Problem solving and root cause identification skills

    • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

    • Acute business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges

    • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle, including agile

    • Experience of successful delivery of large-scale organisational change efforts, including transformation programmes

    • Change management certification or designation required

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    • Knowledge and/or experience of change management/ organizational development/ inclusion best practice and/or talent management

    • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach

    • Positive mind-set, resilience and ability to focus on longer term organizational change
