    Chef - Bela-Bela Rural

    We are seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join our team at our beautiful Ditholo Game Lodge, located just outside Bela-Bela in the Limpopo Province and ensure exceptional dining experiences for our guests. The Chef will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of the hotel's kitchen operations, including menu creation, food preparation, quality control, and kitchen staff management.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    Menu Planning and Execution:

    • Create and update seasonal menus that incorporate local and international flavors, considering guest preferences and dietary requirements.
    • Develop innovative recipes and dishes, ensuring a perfect combination of taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
    • Monitor and control food costs while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

    Food Preparation and Presentation:

    • Oversee the preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation of all dishes.
    • Ensure consistency and high-quality standards are kept and maintained in the hotel kitchen at all times.
    • Ensure that food is prepared and presented according to established recipes and portion sizes.
    • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment and follow all food safety regulations.

    Quality Control and Guest Satisfaction:

    • Conduct regular quality assessments to monitor food quality, taste, and presentation, making necessary adjustments as needed.
    • Respond to guest feedback and complaints promptly, striving to resolve any issues or concerns to ensure guest satisfaction.
    • Continually seek ways to exceed guest expectations and enhance the dining experience.

    Inventory Management and Cost Control:

    • Oversee ordering and receiving of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring proper quality and quantity.
    • Control food wastage by implementing appropriate portion sizes, inventory management techniques, and utilizing leftovers effectively.
    • Monitor and manage the budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality and consistency.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
    • Relevant culinary Tertiary qualification.
    • Proven experience as a Chef within a hotel or fine dining establishment.
    • In-depth knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavors.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, maintaining attention to detail.
    • Sound knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
