Key Performance Areas

• Provide electrical inputs and guidance which include all aspects of innovative and complex engineering applications for the development of infrastructure strategies. policies. system. norms. standards and signing off on electrical installations. Develop and maintain technical and functional norms and standards from an engineering perspective.
• Investigate proposal for innovative service delivery mechanisms and undertake feasibility studies. Compile electrical briefing documentation and specifications. Provide inputs to the determination of the Construction Procurement strategy the User Asset Management Plan and the Infrastructure Programme Management Plan. Investigate electrical engineering Installations and oversee commissioning of electrical engineering installations.

Prerequisites

• An engineering qualification (B Engineering / BSc in Engineering) at NQF level 07 as recognised by SAQA. A Government Certificate of Competency in Electrical Engineering as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng will serve as an added advantage. Six 6 years’ relevant experience post qualification. Valid Registration with professional Engineer - ECSA. Valid driver’s license except for people living with disabilities.

• A good understanding of all relevant legislation and construction industry contract is needed.
• Maintenance skills and knowledge.
• Thorough knowledge and experience related to electrical services to buildings. streets and area lighting as well as HT and LT reticulation systems.
• Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of the OHSA is highly recommended.
