    Chief Executive Officer - Cape Town

    Minimum Requirements
     

    The ideal candidate must have:

    • An appropriate post graduate degree.
    • Proven track record of executive leadership and management experience, preferably in a non-profit or maritime related organisation, although this is not a pre-requisite
    • Strong strategic planning, organisational development and financial management skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
    • The demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
    • Knowledge of maritime safety regulations, emergency response procedures, and related issues is desirable.
    • Passion for the mission and values of the NSRI.
    • The ability to make sensible and informed business decisions and recommendations and the ability to constructively collaborate as part of a team contributing towards the successful performance of the NSRI.
    • Integrity and strong sense of ethics in personal and business dealings.
    • A knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of directors as prescribed by law and the King Code on Corporate Governance.
    • The ability to manage large teams under high pressure circumstances.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership and vision to advance the organisation's mission and objectives.
    • Collaborate and function constructively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term strategic organisational plans, policies, and initiatives.
    • The development and management of the budget aligned with the strategic and operational tasks of the organisation.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring efficient resource allocation and effective management of personnel and assets.
    • Ensuring continuous improvement in the quality and value of the NSRI’s services, and the assets required to provide those services.
    • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, volunteers, donors, and the broader community to enhance support for the organisation's mission and activities.
    • Lead multi-stream fundraising and development efforts to secure financial resources for the organisation's programmes and operations.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the field of maritime safety and non-profit management.
    • Represent the organisation in public forums, media appearances, and industry events to raise awareness and advocate for maritime safety issues.
