Strategically manage the business and employ turnaround strategies to ensure and sustain EDA’s economic, social, and financial benefit to the City of Ekurhuleni.
Drive the implementation of the Aerotropolis Masterplan, including its brand management, marketing, and communication, in parallel with the Aerotropolis Planning goals.
Lead, manage, and coordinate the production of short-, medium-, and long-term plans and strategies for the EDA in line with national and provincial government objectives, the City’s Growth and Development Strategy (GDS 2055), and the aspirations of the citizens of Ekurhuleni.
Manage the development, implementation and review of the corporate strategy and business plan to ensure alignment with the EDA’s objectives.
Develop a financial business model to ensure long-term sustainability of the business.
Ensure that all EDA capital projects are delivered in line with project plans and in a manner that is sustainable and successfully regenerates the areas.
Collaborate with public and private entities to facilitate the delivery of strategic and flagship projects both locally and internationally.
Manage organisational performance and human capital to ensure EDA objectives are met.
Champion organisational compliance and corporate governance leadership.
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (government, business, and communities) so that the EDA is well promoted and able to deliver on its stated outcomes.
Serve as Accounting Officer of the organisation in terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act and take full financial responsibility
Core Requirements:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Law, Built Environment/Engineering, Management, or related field (NQF Level 9).
Minimum 10 years’ experience in business management, urban development or local government, of which 5 years’ experience should be in an executive management role within local government environment.
A track record of success at senior level in achieving operational results and delivering programmes with and through partners in the public, private and community sectors.
Knowledge and experience in managing diverse development projects, preferably in an urban setting in the public sector.
Understanding of the local, provincial, and national government environment.
Understanding of financial management and experience in managing human capital.
A thorough understanding of the Ekurhuleni economy and development trends, at an area-specific level.
Excellent people management and communications skills would be an added advantage.
