    Communications Manager - Johannesburg

    Purpose of Role    

    • The primary responsibility of the role is to implement and coordinate various communication strategies and initiatives within the organization, develop and maintain effective internal and external communication channels, preserve and promote the organization's brand image, and ensure a consistent messaging across all communication platforms.
    • This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, a creative mindset, as well as the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Objectives of Role    

    • Coordinate and implement communication plans to support organizational goals and objectives.
    • Create engaging content for various communication channels, including website, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and internal memos.
    • Coordinate and execute internal communication initiatives to enhance employee engagement and promote a positive organisational culture.
    • Manage and maintain the organization's website, ensuring content is up to date, visually appealing, and aligns with the brand guidelines.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and insights for content creation and messaging.
    • Support the development and maintenance of the organization's brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and adherence to brand guidelines across all communication materials.
    • Maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective media relations.
    • Monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities for proactive communication and brand promotion.
    • Assist in crisis communication management by providing timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Monitor and analyse communication metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and email marketing performance, to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend improvements.
    • Stay up to date with emerging communication trends, technologies, and best practices, and implement innovative strategies to enhance communication effectiveness.
    • Process supplier invoices and expense claims using internal tools and software.
    • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Head of Stakeholder Engagement and E Squared’s Executive team

    Experience and Qualifications    

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in a similar role, with a track record of successful communication campaigns.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt writing style to different audiences and platforms.
    • Knowledge of branding principles and experience in maintaining brand consistency.
    • Strong editing and proofreading abilities with keen attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in using various communication tools and software, including content management systems, social media management platforms, and analytics tools.
    • Familiarity with graphic design tools and software is a plus.
    • Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices for digital content creation.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions.
    • Knowledge of impact investing ecosystem trends.
    • Knowledge of best practices in communications and public relations.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as and when needed.
