Content Team Manager (E-Commerce at Yuppiechef

As the E-commerce Content Team Manager, you’ll be responsible for the Content Team’s growth, goals, output, schedule of work, hiring and HR functions. Working closely with more senior members of the team and other stakeholders in the business, you’ll help set the standard, tone and direction for the team’s processes and projects.

The role entails:

• Owning our product content processes, encouraging and giving your team the tools and space to do their best work, and communicating a consistent vision of what that looks like
• Supporting your team with peer-to-peer learning and constructive feedback to encourage a positive growth environment
• Creating clear communication pathways between your team and internal stakeholders
• Identifying skills gaps within your team and driving a structured hiring strategy

What experience and skills you need for the role

Experience:

• Required:At least 7 years working experience in a high-output, high-quality content creation environment — e.g. working for a newspaper, magazine, technical writing or online publication with high readership; or working in an ad / brand agency environment
• At least 3 years of people management experience in that environment
• Advantageous: Working at an e-commerce retailer in a similar role

Qualifications:

• Required: Relevant work experience and evidence of this in the form of a project case study and/or portfolio
• Advantageous: An under-graduate (bachelor’s) degree in English, copywriting or journalism, or something similar (design, marketing, communication) would be advantageous

Skills:

• Strong and empathetic management skills in leading a team of content creators
• Knowledge of management theory and practical applications in the workplace
• Proactive and strong critical- and strategic thinking skills, specifically around the role of content in business/e-commerce operations
• Strong process / system thinking skills — able to envisage and articulate how to achieve something end-to-end, all the steps along the way, and what tools and resources would be required to do so
• An ability to make value calls on conflicting priorities from multiple teams, communicating the benefits and tradeoffs, and helping groups of people reach consensus on what success looks like
• Solid understanding of how to deliver high quality content (text, images and video, etc) to the web
