    Core Technician

    How you will contribute

    Without you, we could not deliver high-quality snacks to our customers. You will operate and maintain equipment to build technical mastery and to deliver on safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets, understanding losses in your area and taking the appropriate action to eliminate them. You will use autonomous and progressive maintenance standards to maintain equipment and support new product development. In this role, you will ensure that safety processes are observed, that quality assurance activities are performed and that resources are properly allocated and available during the shift. You will take the lead for shutdown maintenance, root-cause analysis, stops reductions loss analysis and breakdown elimination.

    • Autonomous maintenance (AM) Step 4 systems and progressive maintenance (PM) Step 3 systems
    • Maintaining equipment at basic conditions independently, including the execution of AM & PM (break-down maintenance, planned maintenance) standards on dedicated equipment
    • Total productive maintenance and Six Sigma including qualification of AM steps 5-6, and PM step 3
    • Leading line teams
    • Handling challenging interpersonal situations tactfully
    • Influencing people in a union environment
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and good attention to detail

    Preventative Maintenance

    • Ensure efficient operation of equipment in process area by:
    • Planning, organising, and conducting inspections of machinery, equipment, structures, and services.
    • Planning scheduled maintenance activities.
    • Creating job cards.
    • Conducting maintenance activities.
    • Review maintenance performance and trends in area.
    • Review and update schedules & standards.

    Repaired breakdowns

    • Lead repair of breakdowns.

    • Lead breakdown problem solving (RCA). Capture breakdown information in system.

    Manufactured product

    • On an ad hoc basis maybe required to Start-up, operate, shutdown and/or change over equipment /processes

    PM to AM knowledge transfer

    • Conduct on the job training to transfer knowledge and skills during PM activities, breakdown repair, changeovers, etc.
    • Provide coaching to core team for all engineering related activities.
    • Lead and participate in team SGA

    • Basic knowledge of Production Management systems and practices (Efficiency, waste, production planning, labour planning, and utilization)
    • Knowledge of HSE systems and practices
    • Knowledge of Quality systems and practices, particularly QP's relating to engineering practices.
    • Coaching skills

    In addition to this, the candidate:

    • Must be results focused, decisive, pro-active and meticulous.
    • Must display both a quality & customer orientation.
    • Must show a sense of urgency & team focus in the delivery of outputs

    Education / Certifications:

    Person Specification

    To succeed in this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have:

    • Grade 12
    • Relevant Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical/electrical with extensive mechanical experience)
    • SAP advantageous
    • MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, and Outlook)
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing (minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience in relevant trade in manufacturing environment as an artisan
