    Country Director

    About the job

    •  Ability to drive company values, goals, vision, mission and ensure it is being delivered in all areas of the organization’s work, with new and existing partners.

    •  A Country Director’s job requires a strong understanding of how a business operates and successful candidates will have a proven track record demonstrating their understanding and business acumen. 
    •  As Country Director, you are responsible for setting the overall direction of the country operation as well as the day-to-day operational management. This involves taking responsibility for profit, revenue, cash and GSV targets.  Ensure that all head of departments have clear and realistic goals and objectives. 
    •  Ensure an open and trust-based dialogue through regular coordination meetings to ensure alignment with the overall strategy 
    •  Ensure that the country senior management team is effective, mutually supporting and sufficiently involved in key decision- making processes 
    •  Establishes priorities and develops clear and logical plans to achieve goals. 
    •  Monitor performance and progress against objectives. 
    •  Excellent organization and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.  Ability to manage resources effectively 
    •  Develop effective working relationships and networks. 
    •  Aids a sense of team spirit by encouraging cooperation and open communication. 
    •  Conflict management and influencing/negotiating 
    •  Is diplomatic and experienced in working in an international team 
    •  Understanding the sources of risk 
    •  Evaluating risks and methods for their control and mitigation 
    •  Liaising with head office and writing up quarterly/annual reports. 
    •  Identifies a range of practical solutions to address issues 
    •  Taking a critical and methodical approach when problem solving 
    •  Takes in and understands information quickly. 
    • . A key part of the role of Country Director will be to produce highly analytical business performance reports.
    •  Present business performance reports to global management monthly and to the board, quarterly.
    •  Country Director’s are expected to recruit and manage staff, including performance monitoring, and possibly mentoring and training. 
    •  The role is client facing and as such, daily contact with clients is a big part of a Country Director’s role, therefore the ability to communicate effectively is essential. 
    •  A solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential as this role involves preparing annual budgets as well as producing financial reports. 
    •  General management experience is essential for working in this job. 
    •  You need to have excellent networking skills. 
    •  The job of a Country Director needs to be able to deliver the highest standards of customer service.  The ability to recruit staff and monitor performance. 
    •  Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills. 
    •  To effectively manage operations, a Country Manager needs to have knowledge and experience of the sector Bookings Africa operates within. 
    •  You must fully understand the services provided by their company.


    Technical skills 

    •  Basic technical skills and the ability to use business support software. 
    •  Strong customer service, project management, and quality control skills. 
    •  Good resource planning skills. 
    •  A thorough knowledge of our business’ services, with an ability to identify and analyze areas for improvement.  Strong organizational skills for managing budgets and maintaining documents on client issues and inquiries.  Ability to troubleshoot and identify any technical issues. 
    •  Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc computer applications and CRM software.  Understanding of sales performance metrics. 
    •  Deep digital understanding. 
    •  Good problem-solving and analytical skills. 
    •  Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs. 


    Requirements Education & Training 

    •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field. 
    •  A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar role. 
    •  Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous. 
    •  Proven track record of success in digital communications or marketing leadership. 
    •  Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure. 
    •  Strong strategic and analytical skills. 
    •  Ability to manage multiple projects independently 
    •  Excellent organizational and leadership abilities. 


      Soft skills 

    •  Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail. 
    •  Excellent leadership and people management skills. 
    •  Able to manage sensitive and confidential information. 
    •  Self-motivated and able to take responsibility. 
    •  A keen attention to detail for ensuring that all service agreements are met and all aspects are performing up to  standard. 
    •  Have a personable, helpful, and patient character for maintaining positive relationships with clients.  Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
    •  Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including shift and out of hours working.

    What we offer: 

    Bookings Africa is offering a ‘partnership’. We are not in search of an employee but rather a key long-term member of the  team responsible for spear-heading the growth and success of the company in that country. 

    - We are offering 6 months salary and OPEX (Operating expenses)  

    - After 6 months each country should be generating enough money to cover its own overheads and salaries - We set one year KPIs and once met, the country director will be given stock options. 

    - Expansion to other neighboring countries and opportunities to be regional director.
