Data Analyst - Boksburg at Booyco Electronics

Purpose:

• The Data Analyst at Booyco Electronics is responsible for gathering, analysing, and interpreting data to facilitate informed decision-making within the company. This role involves managing large datasets, ensuring data accuracy, generating comprehensive reports, and providing actionable insights to optimize operational efficiency and strategic planning.
• Additionally, the Data Analyst will generate insights to recommend improvements in Booyco software and offer systems and engineering support to all sites, branches, and customers. This position includes preparing detailed management reports that highlight key trends, patterns, and predictions.

Education, experience, and competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics
• 3+ years’ experience in data analysis, preferably in the electronics or manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience with data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Management:

• Collect, process, and validate data from various internal and external sources.
• Maintain and update data systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.

Data Analysis:

• Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can enhance business performance.
• Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, focusing on trends and patterns valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics.
• Perform data mining and use predictive analytics to forecast trends and identify potential improvement areas.

Reporting and Visualization:

• Create and maintain detailed reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights for various departments.
• Present findings and insights to stakeholders clearly and concisely using data visualization tools.
• Develop and deliver presentations to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

Collaboration and Support:

• Collaborate with departments such as marketing, sales, operations, and finance to understand their data needs and provide appropriate support.
• Work with IT and database administrators to troubleshoot and improve data processes.
• Provide training and support to staff on how to access and interpret data.

Ensure Data Governance:

• Ensure compliance with data governance and data security policies.
• Maintain data privacy and confidentiality standards.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for data management.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data analysis and data science.
• Continuously seek ways to improve data processes and systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of the data analytics function.
• Obtain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
• Liaise with internal customers and product experts on the most appropriate product design, assisting with building prototypes.
• Gather and analyse data to identify trends and develop valuable insights to solve problems and inform business decisions.
• Analyse user needs and requirements to determine the feasibility of projects within time and scope constraints.
• Consolidate and analyse data inputs, provide associated reporting, follow-up, and conduct trend analysis.
• Advocate for improvements in Booyco software.
• Prepare, clean, analyse, interpret, and display data using various approaches and business intelligence tools like Microsoft Power BI.
• Prepare reports using relevant data for management, stating trends, patterns, and predictions.
• Prepare final analysis reports for stakeholders to understand the data analysis steps, enabling them to make significant decisions based on various facts and trends.
• Document all product-related test results, technical issues found, and recommendations for resolving issues and improving product offerings.
• Ensure that ISO quality standards are achieved.
• Work on local and international projects.
• Develop preliminary sketches, layouts, wiring, assembly, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Prepare design variations where necessary.
• Collect and file all approval documentation and drawings.
• Create and maintain manufacturing data packs.
• Assist production where necessary with work done using the laser machine and CNC router.
• Visit sites to broaden understanding of system installations.
