To create a central governance competency to reduce risks, create efficiencies, maximise the return on data management efforts within the business and to ensure Data solution applications incorporate industry standards and best practices that will enable the business to do self-service data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Define user/business data requirements.
Acquire, combine and transform data from various sources into interpretable datasets.
Interpret data, analyse results using statistical/analytical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Develop and maintain BI reports and dashboards.
Test and validate solutions in accordance with specification and user requirements.
Visualise data using appropriate tools.
Data management and governance in terms of data protection, compliance, retention, archiving guidelines, data standards etc.
System Improvement delivery.
Training /Knowledge acquisition and transfer.
Requirements
Business degree with Analytical/Commercial subjects, Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent NQF level 8 qualification
5-8 years experience within a similar role
Experience with test-driven development
Knowledge and experience with relevant software packages will be advantageous (GCP/BigQuery, Data/Looker Studio, Business Objects, Qlik, SQL)
Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
Knowledge and experience of SCRUM/Agile
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of and exposure to Data Warehousing (Kimball/ Data Vault patterns), Dimensional/Relational data Modeling (OLAP/OLTP) advantageous
Knowledge and understanding of columnar databases advantageous
Presentation skills
Good communication skills and a team player that can cope in a dynamic environment
