Data Governance Specialist at Praesignis

Job Description

• We are looking for a skilled Data Governance Specialist to lead the implementation of Microsoft Purview as the central platform for finance data management. The successful candidate will drive end-to-end delivery of data management capabilities—including data catalogue, business glossary, data lineage, data quality and information security—ensuring alignment with Group Data Governance Framework and operating standards.

Scope of Work

• Implement Microsoft Purview as the central platform for data governance and management across finance covering all consumers from a finance capability perspective.

Ensure end-to-end delivery of data management capabilities, adoption of those natives to Purview, minimum expected outcomes:

• Data Catalogue: Comprehensive metadata capture and classification. There needs to be a clear link to that of the finance landscape and embedded finance capabilities. Clearly demonstrated, documented and communicated.
• Business Glossary: Standardised terminology for Finance Data aligned with Group standards.
• Data Lineage: Full traceability across systems and processes, not ambiguous and practical.
• Data Quality Management: Identify, document, provision for (build), implement (ensure adoption & change), monitoring & report.
• Data & Information Security: Compliance with Group security policies, ensure same is appropriately documented with clear visibility | documented artifacts of governance and evidence application. Clear consideration given that RACI between business as either consumers or providers of data as well as that of the technology partners.
• Data Reconciliation: Ensure the advancement of the finance control environment as it relates to that of data accuracy and consistency across sources.

Governance & Compliance

• Proven alignment with Group Data Governance Framework and Operating Standards.
• Governance activities must be embedded in delivery, updated continuously, and executed as part of the implementation process.
• Caution against governance effort and leverage the existing governance, the focus here is to ensure practical implementation of key data management disciplines in the context of Purview with the appropriate level of governance expectations.

Delivery Requirements

• Leverage existing metadata documentation and align with current assets where available.

Expected Outcomes

• Fully operational Purview environment integrated with finance data capabilities.
• Enhanced maturity of data management capabilities as identified through data maturity assessments across the Finance capabilities.
• Data Management disciplines are to be delivered and aligned to that of the Medallion Architecture outcomes.

Evidence & Assurance

• Demonstrated experience in implementing Purview at scale.
• Proven track record for embedding data management capabilities.
