Job Purpose
To plan, lead, organise and direct the Recreation and Sports Development Sections and the Recreation and Sport Advice Bureau.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Plans, implements, and evaluates a strategy.
• Establishing partnerships with all spheres of government, sports bodies, NGOs, CBOs and communities.
• Directing the establishment of an Advice Bureau for sport and recreation in the unicity.
• Directing the planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes to facilitate community consultation and participation.
• Directing the planning and implementation of recreation and sporting events/programmes within communities.
• Directing the planning, implementation and evaluation of education programmes for communities/individuals.
• Directs the establishment of volunteer database.
• Ensuring that Council policies and directives are implemented.
• Planning and controls budget for the department.
• Leading, manages, controls and developing subordinates.
• Undertaking the administrative function pertinent to a senior management position.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in the Sport Sciences field or Administration or related qualification.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 8 years’ experience at a management level of which at least 3 years must be at a senior management level.

Preferred Requirements

• Post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in the Sport Sciences field or Administration or related qualification.
• 9 years relevant experience of which 3 year must be at a senior management level.
